...then there are lakhs of 'dreamers' a nice name for totally illegal migrants who have sneaked in....but they do not threaten the jobs of the middle class and will remain the underclass for generations so wide political support to stay vs punishing h1/gc aspirants.

@ 3bwy That would lead to the demise of CSCO. Rule #1 of investing: DON'T LOSE YOUR INITIAL CAPITAL. You are not a savvy investor.

As a significant shareholder, we hope CSCO does move more engineering and back office functions offshore. They can reduce another 20k heads in the U.S. and across Europe to correct the bloat that has occurred there. Would greatly improve margins.

There is very realistic chance of Cisco moving its global headquarters from San Jose To bangalore if Trump makes good of his Campaign Promise and completely crackdown on H1B's and H4 EAD and L1B's.

More jobs will move to Bangalore. It's foolishness to think Trump can kick out 2.2 million Indians and give all those jobs to US citizens. Those jobs will be moved to offshore locations

If America needs all this imported labour for whatever reason...cost, lack of domestic skills etc. then surely the issue is with the structure of the american economy / workforce. You should be focussing on why the immigration is happening rather than moaning about the folks coming in. The fact is that companies like Cisco feel they need h1 workers. Ask yourselves why and sort that. If you just ban the import of workers without addressing why they are needed the big corporates will simply off shore.

Doesn't it just say that the US workforce is either unskilled or too expensive (or both) to make the country competitive? Dont blame the indians. No one moans when western folks go to the middle east to take contracts out there or when yanks work in Europe. It all sounds pretty one sides.

This likely includes renewals and extensions.

The quota for H1 B visas for recent years has been 85000 per year. So a figure of 300000 for any particular country does not make sense
