Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Worst management ever

Worst management ever. Worse than the time with Akers. Lower level management is pitiful, unqualified, no leadership skills, dumbfounded, don't have a clue about IBM's own personnel policies, can't provide career or skills advice to its own people.

This! This is what's the main problem with IBM of today. How did we get into a position where the entirety of lower management is so utterly unqualified to do their jobs? No wonder most of our new employees have no idea what to do, if this who is getting them into the company. Until this issue is resolved, we can't really do anything.

Most management at IBM, no matter upper, mid or lower levels, are pretty much useless. Start with the top... Ginny the Eagle... She has absolutely no clue. Most of the other SVPs are also clueless aside may be Rosamilia, but it looks like he is being pushed aside and won't be the next CEO.

All they know is they are getting a paycheck still and that's good enough for them.

I can see 30 days severance turning into 0 days pretty soon.

If anyone cannot see its time to get the hell out of IBM then God help you in life.

I believe the era of “incentives” to leave are pretty much over. If you look at IBM’s history, they went from 1 year, to 6 months, to 90 days, and now to 30 days. Certainly there will be bridges and one off’s that are offered, but I believe those offers will be for folks who are close to or eligible for the old pension plan., OR for folks who have a lot of years in. Think of it like the pension plan. 60 years old and more than 5 years of service, 30 years of service and any age, or 15 years of service and over 50. If you hit anyone of those marks, I believe you may get a sweetener, otherwise you will most likely get whatever the feds require IBM to offer and not much else

At every meeting someone asks about colocation. It is all anyone can think about. If it was supposed to make us all afraid, it is wildly successful. But it also makes us all disgusted and many are looking for jobs elsewhere. In my many years at IBM this is the stupidest thing they have ever done.

My team often ask me, when will next RA come. They all want to go with package.

I don't think they are all unqualified. I think middle and upper management don't give them the information they need. I ask my manager about any important issue like collocation, layoffs, strategy, and the answer is all the same - they don't know. No one knows anything. How can anyone work like this?
