Thread regarding Academy Sports & Outdoors layoffs

Train the newbes!

Relying mostly on employees who are young adults who either are on their first job or who have very little marketable skills will be the downfall of Academy Sports.

Those few of us who are not in this category are left to carry the burden of this, and it's getting too much.

This is not all on the employees, mind you. I have often had new coworkers left to their own devices with no guidance on what tasks to accomplish or worse - having a variety of tasks and not knowing how to prioritize.

Half of the time I see new employees walking around in a daze, and should I catch their eye I am almost always given a lost and confused look.

We desperately need better training to be provided for all new hires to enable them to become self sufficient and take initiative. Once they are on the floor don’t leave them there to flounder. Sometimes a little guidance is required with a follow up. New hires shouldn’t feel abandoned their first day on the floor and those of us here for awhile shouldn't have to be expected to pick up the slack every single time.
