Walmart India: Urgent push to hire new Walmart IT workers

My brother in law works for AMD out in Cali. He recently was in Bangalore and told me Walmart is advertising and heavily recruiting for what he called "all IT skills", especially web design, support, network and database. Has anyone heard about that?

Trump isn’t out for anyone but himself. He lied to everyone. Just like every other politician.

Anyone that's been working with the ISD budgets knows were moving a lot of positions to India. The consultant companies will be gasping for business soon.

No one thought we'd have to say anything about protecting the American worker. We just assumed our leadership would do it. But no, they took care of their home boys.

I voted Trump because I thought he'd protect the American worker.

@3kmy: it might be hilarious to you but not to us. And to make matters worse, we're even being told to train our replacements. Then we'll get laid off. What's hilarious about that?

R5Lj3bq-lfl. absolutely they want you to quit. saves walmart a ton of money. no payout of severance or PTO depending on your job, no unemployment benefits. and statistically it looks so much better for walmart.

Agree with you lfl. I've been with companies that outsourced entire areas overseas, some were tech others, non-tech. They eventually fail and the crap comes back to the U.S. because there wasn't proper management oversight to make it work well, yada yada. It doesn't help those who are in the path of it. All you can do is move on and find another place to work. As soon as I saw the writing on the wall I dipped, the people who stuck around were made miserable.

We expect our isd department to get outsourced. Quarterly appraisals, stack ranking, firings and quittings not being backfilled. It’s like they want us all to quit voluntarily.

to poster: qkq.

You are right, the majority of US firms are in fact laying off staff in India and re-hiring staff in the US. However, Wal-Mart joined the list of companies doing full outsourcing about 5-8 years later than the rest of the US based companies, and therefore they have not yet fully understood that this type of outsourcing does not work. If you don't believe me, please read some of the absolutely, certifiably asinine interviews the JK has given in recent months about the "innovation" that comes out of India.

I have worked for numerous fortune 1 companies (in their respective fields), and I can say that all of them eventually learned that outsourcing to ANY foreign country will not work unless you have a strong UPPER Management (thing EVP) presence in said country who has the both the support of HQ, and the ability to understand how to integrate with the main HQ. This does not happen often. Outsourcing is a 5 year plan.

I haven’t heard this but am not surprised. Everything I hear and read leads me to believe that our ISD will soon be based in India. Isn’t that what all the Bentonville layoffs are about? Fire folks in Bentonville and hire a people in Bangalore. That’s what it looks like to me.

don't get misled by hiring sprees in India, In Indian there is a big recruitment drive always preludes a big layoff as diversionary tactic.

All american firms are laying of staff in India and hiring in USA
