Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

It's bad either way

All this fighting about the Broadcom offer, and for what? No matter what happens, we are looking at huge turmoil in Qualcomm in the following months.

Either way we are guaranteed to see huge layoffs, so literally not one of us will be safe for who knows how long. The most productive thing any one of us can do right now is update our resumes.

I used to work at Qualcomm in QCT Customer Engineering and was in the November 20, 2015 layoff. I hated hearing all this happening. If there is a huge layoff again and they bring in a Conslting firm for you like they did for us, be sure to participate. Hiring companies don't look at resumes they way they were written 10 years ago. The Consulting firm will really help you get your resume in top shape.

My best to all of you in this stressful time. I know just how you feel.

sick and tired of all these mergers. Soon there will be one single Semiconductor company commanding consumer prices and engineer salaries.

@vuh I now have a job that is rather unsafe. I can find a job that is safer. So obviously, I would take the safer job. How is that gloom and doom? It's actually cold hard math, comparing probabilities of losing my job within the next 12 months.

Either way the resultant company will still be dominant in cell phone chips. We are employed for certain skills. Why would that suddenly change? Uncertainty is part of our profession. One should never be complacent, but not seeing gloom and doom under either scenario
