Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

A suspended IR, and a coming out of circle IR, what should I do?

I got an IR under no warning and no assignment, actually I've asked my manager more than 2 times to give me more tasks.

My manager's manager has a bit of history with me. I blamed him because he highlighted my work in his MSR 3 years ago ( He is a peer with my former second level manager, who has left intel 2 years ago) .

I got certificates from my customer to prove my work, so HR suspend my IR, I also recorded my 2nd level manager's voice, he said "There is no meaning to argue about work" - it's an indistinct signal but enough to prove he want me to leave not because of my output...

After HR suspended my IR, he sent a message to my manager, said "if" I have no improvement in 1 month, then should give me a out of circle IR with document.

What should I do for such a sh--ty second level manager?

If u have no one on your side, just get out. Or wait for them to give IR , then take the package and go

Unfortunately you are deadmeat once SLM hooks are in you. Best bet is to go open door way over his head

@2coy Not I made my SLM's MSR, the truth is when he is not my SLM, my former SLM was angry at him for he had taking our team's work as his. He is good at this, so I guess that's why he want me to leave and didn't give me any resource in these 2 years.

I mentioned I have certificates from my customer, that's the task I actively initialized in this year, for one project, I try my best to meet our customer's requirement, in order to avoid our customer to ask ARM's solution, even I collaborate teams across division to get an Intel (Altera) FPGA's solution, the customer's words is "after his push, lots of intel teams contacted them and made good effort to the project". and the other task is also I raised to my manager: "May I try to persuade our customer to initialized a game AI project? ", after my manager's agreement, I purchased a printer and by myself and print papers read for whole 1 month, to present the "CFR - counterfactual regret minimization", a CPU bound AI algorithm to customers, customers take it and finally release a normal human level poker AI robert. - That's why they gave me 2 certificates to recognize my work and why my FLM told me "that's no meaning to argue your work" ...

@2lwm, Yes, above all, I agree with you that's a classic Intel management's trap.

@2kod @2nhr, thank you all for all of your words, I will give up and move on. Thank all the people who discussed under my post, and I like the joke from @1xjz, yes, I found most older people survival in Intel and never say "my mistake", interesting.

Here is what I would do:

Look for a job and leave the company soon. The situation will not improve

This is a classic Intel management trap to set people up: Show initiative and find opportunities to contribute...and your manager warns you to align your activities with your assigned priorities...you do what you're told...and your manager criticizes you for not taking initiative and finding opportunities to contribute.

It's all just window dressing because they want you gone. For whatever reason, valid or not. It honestly just doesn't matter.

Don't take it personally.

you made your bosses boss momthly status report three years ago? lol.

it could also be because they lost faith in you, they invest time spinning you up on an assignment then nothing comes out, so after a while, it is all a waste of everyones time and the hope is you will read the signals and move on. besides, why does your boss need to spoon feed you assignments? dont you sit in a staff, are you unaware of team pain points? get off your a--, show initiative, deliver something, or GTFO.

Open him an Open Door Investigation and state the situation as that may be consider discrimination and it is stated in the Code Of Conduct. This kind of things are handled anonymously.

@1peb: same question as @fwb, do you even work for Intel? No one says "sorry, my mistake" at Intel, no matter what.

Hack his corporate password, download a few gigs of p--n on to his account in an obscure file, anonymous call to HR. Blamo! problem gone.

Oh that's right Intel employees probably can't hack much of anything without getting caught.

@RCCtm07-fwb Sorry, my mistake, it's "out-of-cycle", it's first time I've heard of this, didn't notice the word...

@wri, fwb is an FLM who comes here to make himself (herself) feel important

It's happened to me at Intel. My FLM was a wuss who connived with my SLM to get rid of me because they both perceived me as a threat. But the world is very small.

@fwb I understood what he meant. No idea why you jump to some weird conclusion.

If he has not assigned you tasks and you have it documented, he is not allowed to give you an IR. Its a pity that your manager is such a weak piece of sh-- with no moral backbone, am sure he would offer his wife to your SLM to pleae him. You get all sort of a--holes in this world. ! Your third level should be made aware of the situation. If he screws you unfairly make sure everyone knows. Talk about your weak manager to your peers. Keep fighting, crooks, plagirizing scum and bullies fear a fight. If you have documented evidence of him claiming credit for your MSR bring it out into the open with his manager and his HR.
