DMs are just mouth pieces. They do the dirty work that their boss doesnt have the balls to do.
Do you really think it’s the DM’s actually making the call to cut payroll? No, it’s coming from above them and they are executing what they are being told to by their boss and so on and so on. Yes men? Maybe so, but all the keyboard warriors on here that remain anonymous I’m sure tighten up when their DM comes in and jump to whatever task they are told to do and execute it without question.
The DM we have now don't know a damn thing about the parts business. Especially the commercial side of it. Due to him cutting payroll so much we are losing our good commercial customers. CARQUEST and Advance alike. But that's what Advance likes just good old yes men. So hoping this co goes broke or gets bought.
Should have worked harder to keep the CQ DMs. The ones I knew ran profitable stores (both aap & CQ) and knew how to treat their store teams and hire the right people. The flunkey DMs in place now are just a revolving door process with little experience.
You're right, keeping CQ higher ups was a huge disaster.
There's no a member of upper management that can even spell COMMERCIAL much less understand what it means! We have the stupidest bunch running this company I have ever seen gathered in one place!
Untrue that this program was developed for “flight risk” cams. There are two regions in the country in this pilot program. It’s supposedly supposed to show a huge lift in sales. Mostly due to underperforming CAMs actually getting a decent paycheck before they actually develope their territory. Keeping them on long enough to grow the business. Nice theory. As a high performing CAM that took years to grow a market, I’m hurting with this new pay plan. I hope it doesn’t go national. I was making great money on the old plan. I am not now. I am now a “flight risk” due to this new pay plan.
Why Advance would think losing the accounts because of a cam is stupid, Advance loses accounts because they do not understand the commercial side of the business.
There is a piece missing from this commentary. Not all cams are on this program. The ones that are were those identified as a “flight risk” that could take sales to a competitor. The pilot program was designed to give them hope and plant second thoughts about leaving. It was never intended to pay anyone more, rather it just gave some temporary false hope. This company is dying. Don’t die with it.
As a top performing CAM with a smaller, rural territory, it’s killing me. I will be jumping ship if this program goes national. I was getting huge bonuses on the old plan. Not so much now.
In my case, I make more but am selling less than I did previously. My CSM told me the program was designed to retain cams and nothing else. Too many were jumping ship. Makes sense now.
