The technical people who knew what an IP is at State Farm already left...
true
Personally, i just manage my communications, and watch what I say. I don't attack people, don't say anything here that is not true, and don't post anything that I would not be willing to say to my leadership's faces, should they ask.
imagine if they could do this, facebook and twitter would stop working like asap
They would need a subpoena or a court order in order to get your IP - unless you are crossing the line into illegal (slender, bullying, threatening, etc.) I really see no way for anyone to get that IP address - plus, if you are not posting, they are not collecting IP addresses (read somewhere in the footer)
I use NordVPN - it's 2 bucks per month and $40 buys you two years... It's flawless on PC and mobile as well.
Handwringing, pants wetting weak sauce.
What’s that noise!?! Why, it’s the mail robots! There are so many of them! They’ve come to take me away! They’re choking me, dragging me by my ID card lanyard, down, down through the secret tunnels to Corp E tower dungeons!
Ahhhh. Aaaaavvveeennnggee meee!
Generally true, yes.
However, State Farm does not have subpoena authority to demand that TheLayoff.com turn over IP records to them to get the IP address a post was sent from, then subpoena that address's ISP owner to obtain subscriber information to tie it to a subscriber address.
In order to do all of that, State Farm would have to file a lawsuit against TheLayoff.com and get a court to issue discovery orders to obtain that information. Not impossible, but not totally likely, at least at this point. Unless/until someone posts a terroristic threat against the company or executives on this site, and it becomes a criminal matter where law enforcement agencies get involved.
