Now you people apologize to the OP since he turned out to be right about the RA.

This afternoon I overheard my manager in his office saying my name and "RA". This is in San Jose. I didn't overhear anything on when it is, but I did hear him calling another manager to warn him about a remote employee being on the list.

This is what was explained to me as of late:

IBM's bucket of money for hiring contractors is doing fine

IBM's bucket of money for hiring FTE IBMers is empty (has been for a while now)

So terminating contractors first hardly makes sense if that bucket is "doing fine"

Maybe time to start dodging bullets again.

In my area all contractors were dumped last year.

I heard they are dumping all contractors first before FTE's?

Anyone have any news on this?

I believe it is tomorrow. I was asked to come on-site for a meeting. Anyone know they are offering the RA’s?

@3vpp - RA's always start in the morning. Mgrs are supposed to notify those RA'd first, followed by the rest of the team. If, there is an RA this week, look for it Thursday or Friday.

-3uk1 are you saying those are specifics of the package this time around?

I seem to remember some past RAs happening at the end of the business day (US eastern time) also. Day's only half over, but I'd think we'd have seen it in Europe at least since their day is over, but maybe US is going first this time.

You will be "set free" with 30 days pay and 90 days benefits. Be careful what you wish for.

I seem to remember RAs on Wednesdays a few times before, but I'm sure they've been on other days. I hope the OP isn't just some (or the same) troll as the "March" guy (see other thread) who seems to get off on playing with people. Maybe that person was the one that's correct, who knows. Often, RAs were delayed at the last minute for a day or week due to snags in the process. I do think there's something to the fact that at the last minute people were asked to stay back from the FastStart training. That I know is real, and gives an imminent RA legitimacy. I for one am sick of the stress this company puts you through with all this. If I'm not fortunate enough to get cut this time around, I'll retire sometime this year and put an end to this BS.

Is it time to send the OP back to that manager for more information? Because the original information was so accurate?

FLMs are always notified the day before an RA if they were selected or not.. Often, they learn way before depending on relationship with uplines..

FLMs don't have a clue about what is happening because they are clueless! Hoping for early notification Monday so I can avoid a last business trip for the Evil Empire!

FLMs do get notice in advance. They are provided with a script to read by HR and are required to stick to it for legal reasons. They definitely find out in advance, unless of course they're one of the ones getting cut, which is likely this time around. See y'all on Monday, I hope my number gets picked!!

it is true, they have already announced it to my affected teammate even though our team is not even making a loss last year. There is a serious problem with the upper leadership of the company who keep looking for scapegoat, burn them and kick them out once they have screw their energy.

What do you mean FLMs don't have a clue about RAs? They are provided the details by HR so they can make selections based on ranking and other means. They are of course instructed ahead of time so they can communicate to impacted employees on the date set by HR.

The first line managers I know don't have a clue when things are going to happen. Their word is no better than anyone else's.

Well I over heard a first line manager saying Monday RA

Would it be possible to inform on the location you overheard this at, as well as what organization and unit the manager is in?

If you look deep enough into the RA process you'll see the same algorithms being applied to todays employees were refined on unsuspecting residents of the WWII ghettos of Poland. Look up the enumerator. You've come a long way, IBM, but should still be persecuted for war crimes!
