Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Laid off today (I refuse the RA term)

My last day is 3/1 and will have a 30 day severance payments. COBRA standard, benefits for three months. They help the transition with a $2.5K edu payment (oh well, let me learn something). The call was under 5 minutes. Cold. Detached. After 21 years here, it's almost surreal.

I think Mark English must be an on the chopping block employee at Ameriprise Financial. He is trying to save his own sad life at Ameriprise. Could the company be that pathetic? Hopefully he gets fired soon and gets in his sewer hole. If you feel like it, cut and paste his comments and go to Ameriprise website, click on contact, paste and complain about their tactics.

At least they didn't F you over with a bogus "Performance Plan". I went through it a year ago and landed at a startup three months later and I am incredibly happy. Once you land you will be amazed at how it feels to go to work without that 1,000 weight on your shoulders.

Same story for my husband..... 7 years in sales. Top producer.... made over $300,000 last year... slow quarter and now he's gone. Stress level was off the charts with IBM. Shocked at the moment but God is good and all will work out.

-mop I'm like you - sometimes I'm not even sure they know I still work at IBM. Maybe we're like that guy in Office Space who got laid off years ago but they forgot to tell him and kept paying him by accident.

Just spoke with a buddy who was reorged like 4 times in the last 3 years, until they moved him into something he knew nothing about.

He was cut, just like everyone else.

Frankly, I was waiting for the ax to fall on me, but nothing. I did lose my manager 3 weeks ago and don't have a first line or for that matter, a concerned second line manager anymore. Maybe there was no one to give me the call.

20 years ha rumors are that all FLM with 15 years experience in software sales and analytics will become next on the list so I will say to submit your resume now before your email comes to you. And don’t worry about IBM they don’t care one thing about you.
