Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

Systems first line management selections coming this week?

Do you think the management meeting this week is to announce they've been made and then expect to get emails at a later time?

Managers that recieved offers have until Tues midnight to accept.

The non tech analysts (It solutions-operations) are rumored to hear their plight on Mar 5-6. That would be an Aug 31st release date for those taking the buyout.

I heard that PMs (project managers) were going to get big cutbacks. Planners and other foofoo roles too. The 15th is the day after Valentine's day massacre.

The fact that they get offered involuntary severance does not necessarily preclude them competing for analyst jobs. I was offered involuntary severance, but still free to compete if I wanted to.

I didn't want to.

From what heard today the execs shared with the first line managers how it was going to go down. Mgrs would meet with directors this week and find out if they would recieve an offer. Those with an offer have 1 week to accept/reject. Rejection of an offer means you get involuntary severance.

I was told today that those that dont recieve an offer are given involuntary severance. This conflicts with the rumor I had been hearing that management not given offers could compete for analyst jobs.

Only those impacted know for sure

I expect relocation would be based more on needs than wants

I believe the managers had their meeting today, but were to meet with directors later to find out their own fate

what if a person is open to relocating to a hub? I don’t think it would make much difference.

All this waiting is ridiculous

Yesterday I began to suspect that something was about to go down when I saw several managers cancelling unit meetings and taking impromptu time off. I guess we'll find out soon.

Then the rest of us get to go through the wringer. And I'm sure they'll make it as slow and painful as possible.

It's a big deal to me as I will be getting a new manager and there are job and location implications. I know that the answers won't be given right away, but I can at least know who I need to start working with or know i need to work with someone else. It's not about being noisy. It's about the security of me and my family

I'm sorry, but the timing of this --as well as the specific plan forward-- is the business of everyone who works here. The timing of the managers is directly related to the timing of analysts. It would also be helpful if they clearly communicated how the selected managers would determine which analysts would be retained, at a far more granular level than has been offered thus far.

This website is the only place to get the big picture of what is happening at State Farm.

Um i think they think since its mgrs its nond of our business to know when they communicate it. But i also heard there will be private meetings with each manager not selected and there are plenty of them. They get to work til June doimg nothing and then get their severance.

Thursday is the standing meeting. News and announcements are typically delivered then

They just don't care. It's just business. They will let go a bunch of workers and still sleep well

Why on earth have they not communicated when and how the information about first line managers is going to be shared? It’s this week supposedly, and it is Tuesday already. Makes absolutely no sense, so distrspectful and inconsiderate. Is maximizing anxiety the goal here?

I’m guessing just to the managers themselves

I've heard from multiple people, including managers, that the 15th is the date. Whether that's just to the managers themselves or to the enterprise, I'm not sure.
