Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Prepping for next round

So do most in NA feel that we'll get standard 60 days WARN for field sales and field sales engineers? So before the typical reorg, does that mean April 1? Have seen several Oracle Digital people move to field roles so managers are clueless to higher intent.

I guess this is off topic from the OP's post but I can say for a fact that at least some of the jobs on the Oracle careers site are real, at least the one that I applied for was. I started with Oracle as a hardware support engineer at the end of December 2017 after applying for the job on the careers site. They offered a real nice starting salary (way better than other companies that I applied to, and I mean WAY better), but yeah, even the HR guy told me that I should not ever expect to get a raise.

Why am I here on this site when I just started working here? It didn't take long after starting work that all I would hear every day was people in the office talking about someone else getting laid off. Why would they hire me if they are laying off? Doesn't seem to make sense.

But I can say that so far this is a great job, great salary and benefits, great co-workers, and fantastic manager.

@RIVOTJQ-2dvs - on the ODC side of things. Not really sure if it worth the risk. From reading, Oracle wanting to go full force on it but ODC didn't seem to be able to complete with AWS, Azure and Gg Cloud. This is not by a small margin.

"How bad the layoffs at Oracle Broomfield/Lousiville/Boulder area ?"

It depends on the LOB. Some, but not all groups in BRM got spanked hard.

What LOB are you talking about? Some are a still hiring. As for salary, Oracle will typically give you a nice bump when they hire you, but you might not get a raise for years.

I actually got my job, or found it, on the Oracle career site. I'm in product marketing. Applied online and a recruiter called me. Started a few months ago. So the assertion that the job postings are bogus is ridiculous. Right now, there's 2,585 postings for the US alone. They can't all be bogus. And then you've got to get all the recruiters to buy into the ruse, if true, so good luck with that. I'm here roaming this site because I've been hearing rumors of layoffs from coworkers. I see Oracle as a "filler" while I continue looking for a better company.

Got call from Oracle recruiter for a staff/principal engineer position. My skill set fit the job very well. How bad the layoffs at Oracle Broomfield/Lousiville/Boulder area ? Is it still going on? Just checking this site and it looks pretty nasty. Giving the layoff is still very active, I doubt the salary have much room to negotiate. What would be the range anyway ?

The layoffs are based on field sales salary. If you earn 68k and then go field sales you are still sub 100k base salary. So yeah you will survive. Guys its simple. Its cost cutting. They will continue to hire at lower wages so they can replace the higher waged employees.

Next round... look at your w2 that will tell you if you stay or go. Simple.

I call BS on these rumors. Just search the Oracle careers site and there are a lot of open requisitions for field sales and pre sales positions.
