Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

What kind of service does Humana think they are giving their members

I’ll preface this by saying I was a PHC for several years. My father is in the program and since he was assigned a PHC originally, has had 5 PHCs. Freaking FIVE. Most recently he is not doing well. He needs someone to help him get some in home services and since Humana can’t get their s*** together, it’s directly affecting the people whom they claim to want to help so much. I feel for the PHCs, knowing what that job was like. But it’s heartbreaking to see my own family member screwed over because they can’t get the help they need. I’ve had to make phone calls and handle things from a thousand miles away because the person assigned to my father can’t be reached because he/she is no longer there. I’m so sorry to all the PHCs, nurses, social workers and CHEs that have been through hell. I can only wish that future careers offer you the respect, kindness, and appreciation you deserve. But I also hope management knows that these people being shuffled around - for profit purposes, restructuring and “business” reasons are effing humans. Not dollars. Not shares. No humanity in Humana. I’ve never detested an organization more. Please be well everyone who was let go. And to those who stay - self care, wine, chocolate and lots of LinkedIn.

op, call your dad’s primary care doctor for home health and pt and OT orders and authorization, call the local area agency on aging to see if he qualifies for in home help, and if he’s a veteran, call his local veteran service officer to see if he’s eligible for any services in the home or benefits....

@pox thank you so much for the advice. I will try to get that in the works. And to the others who commented, thank you for the validation. As always, care management acts in empathic ways. Humana stunk but my coworkers rocked. Please be well!!

I totally agree with what you said, OP. Now, I wonder if your father might qualify for an HCM RN since it sounds like his care needs have changed. You might try calling the general HAH number and have them transfer you to the right department to check his eligibility. Even the members who no longer have a PHC can still receive nurse assistance from HAH through the new nurse triage line. Just trying to help.

I agree 150%. Humana cares nothing about the members. It's just a sales tactic, because at the end of the day the shareholders and stock market dictates what happens. They say what people want to hear, but only do what's in the interest of their pockets.

I’m sorry about your father. Yes, members are not getting anything close to the “perfect experience” with all of the shuffling around. Someone is bound to respond “it’s just business,” but these are real people being affected.
