Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

Perhaps State Farm should just lay off everyone and become an investment portfolio

With the current executives at the helm, we're bleeding money. 7 Billion dollars last year. The bleeding isn't going to stop, as we're still losing policies. Our leadership is leading the company straight into a frightening realm where the key areas of operations will be rendered ineffective.

Has it occurred to anyone that the company might make more money if they just closed up shop completely and invested everything in OTHER businesses?

But we're an IT company now haven't you heard. Albeit an IT company that nickel dimes infrastructure and delays maintenance but yea we're an IT company who sells no IT products. At least the old original portal concept was a good "IT company" idea at the time about 15 years ago. Got beat by real portals like Google and Yahoo but at least some people had an idea but no different from today they got little/no funding.

Because our customer service in Claims s---. We have begged for a new phone system. Told too expensive? It’s the core of how claims operates.

Day in and day out, calls are misrouted by the hundreds. All we do is apologize! Had a class on how to apologize. Total loss gives out gifts as apology... barbecue tools, gift cards, relaxation packages.

No one willing to ask those that work frontline of what works and suggestions on improvements. And Process Team..... a joke. Majority never handled a claim and dictating how we handle claims. Something so streamlined and effective has become a cumbersome bureaucracy

How can they be losing policies? They advertise and sponsor everything now...

They loses Auto Policies because their rates s---! I saved 40% switching to Geico.

Paying a randomly assigned Agent a commission even when I purchase on the internet is a joke (and drives the rate up, to pay the agent). I understand the Agent contract requires every policy to be funneled thru an Agent...that's gotta change to survive.

Yes, SF lost 150,000+ policies the first 6 weeks. Do the math and if it continues SF will exceed the 900,000+ autos they lost last year.

Rumor is SF lost a ton auto policies in January, well on track for another horrible year. A sale/merger might be in the works as the executives may have realized our IT systems and business models are screwed beyond redemption. Our claims handling and customer service are nothing special and not worth paying a premium for.

Does anyone remember Sears, Roebuck & Company...? They too once owned market dominance, but refused to adapt and change their business model over time. They started their descension in the 90's, so if you lose only a fraction of a perecent of market share per year you can survive 20-30 years...good luck.

At this point, I think the announcements are going to be big for teams and individuals. I think a general meeting happened and it was announced that the managers were selected, but they're in process of meeting with their superiors to find out if they were selected.

The info will probably trickle down to teams as they are affected

State Farm can't close up shop. They are too big of an insurer. The Federal Gov won't let them. State Farm needs to focus on keeping customers and the bleeding will slow down. The customer service and IT interactions are trash.

And one by one the pop carts fluttered and stopped, and Foahd and his Birkenstock twins and The Tipsword held illimitable dominion over all.
