Intel hit with 32 lawsuits over security flaws.

(Reuters) - Intel Corp said on Friday shareholders and customers had filed 32 class action lawsuits against the company in connection with recently-disclosed security flaws in its microchips.

Most of the lawsuits - 30 - are customer class action cases that claim that users were harmed by Intel's "actions and/or omissions" related to the flaws, which could allow hackers to steal data from computers.

Intel said in a regulatory filing it was not able to estimate the potential losses that may arise out of the lawsuits.

@2aku - Thanks for the pro-Intel propaganda, HR paid troll. Intel is being sued for misleading the public and its customers by knowingly promoting, marketing and selling flawed products for at least more than 6 months, and in the process artificially goosing up the stock price through lies and fake news. Which the criminal BK then used to sell the large majority of his stock with insider information not disclosed to the public. Nice try, shill.

Really difficult to win a lawsuit if no actual monetary damage was done. If there were exploits for the security flaws, and if those exploits had lead to specific damages, then it would be another story.

It would set a rather bad precedent in any case if those lawsuits were successful, because ALL hardware and software contains security flaws. If the manufacturers and developers could be sued for these flaws, then the whole IT industry would be at risk. So the only way how this kind of lawsuit could succeed is if gross negligence could be proven, which I strongly doubt.
