@1jp the first reply. That is it exactly. On the store level we are supposed to do what we are told. Changes weekly & is often the exact opposite of the previous weeks directive but we're required to do it. And it all trickles down from above. Current manager threatens and sometimes does write people up for new policies that he hasn't told anyone too clearly.
Go ahead, *ss, fire everyone with legitimate worries....you'll be working alone....that is, if you were really a manager....NOT.

My store was doing that and at least still chugging along, but then Jan 4th came and they stole the tracks out from under us.

Sears reminds me of one of those huge old rusted and dilapidated cars from the 70s, smells like gas, leaks gas and oil, backfires, misfires and the engine has to redline to move the car 20 MPH due to a shot transmission. A blue plume of smoke trails out the tailpipe causing bystanders and drivers (customers, vendors and shareholders) to cough.
As the stoplight turned green, the brand new Mercedes (Amazon) zoomed away in the next lane over while this old 1970 Ford (Sears) had just enough power to make it to middle of the intersection where it stalled. As it sputtered to a stop, the car rocked on its shot suspension. Horns are blaring as cars start to back up until they speed around the big old hulk.
The problem is you are talking to the caboose. The train engine switched tracks years ago.
If your store is doing so well, it won't matter in the end if the company goes bankrupt....Your store will go down with the rest of them.
The Ford quote is great but totally irrelevant here. Sears is more than one person thinking he can. It’s comprised of a team of mostly incompetent leaders, making poor decisions in a market that has long passes it up. Thinking you can is wishful thinking here.
I think the Kmart little engine has derailed and lost a few passengers.

Too bad that Eddie hasn't been following your sage advice; SHLD would have been more successful than Amazon at this point! Your advice is much more effective when it is implemented and practiced by the highest levels of management, first.
