Displaced Co Manager turned down Regional Req offering 49 miles from home

Got the call, was told I qualified through the rating system to be an Asm of the future. Was offered an Asm position 49 miles from home in a store that has the store manager covering another store and does not qualify for Co Managers and has a couple of Asm’s leaving to take higher paid positions in a complex store. Turned it down. I saw too many unqualified co’s keep jobs and get raises for me to drive what would be well over an hour with traffic. Am I pissed off, yes. Will I dwell on it, no. I will take my super max bonus, my severance, and what’s left of my paid time off to find another job outside of Walmart and move on in my life. Good luck to everyone. As is stated in many other posts, do not think any position is safe from having the same thing happen to you.

I promise you ALL that were kept are not qualified. And not ALL that were let go were under performers. The decisions made were not consistent. Take the bonus, severance and 60 days to improve on the future. The grass is greener on the other side.

'I am not a butt plug, my associates love me' ....... classic dialog from a butt plug manager nobody can stand. Here's a clue, Nero: you don't call human beings 'my associates'. 'My co workers seem to value me as much as I value them' would be a better respnse.

Props to the last poster before me who invited you to inform us when you get your pink slip. :)

Please let us know when you get let go. That will be something to celebrate. It will happen. Good luck!

I am not a butt plug. my associates love me. and reality check, walmart has a 3 percent overall profIt margin. we will never afford raising wages and expanding benefits without making deep cuts. that's how business works.

Absolutely wrong about losing severance if you turn down an Asm position less than 50 miles away. This would only be true if you were a Co keeping your position but being transferred to another store less than 50 miles away and you turned it down because you would not be being demoted then!

Hey, it all s---s. Many qualified people were cut and many unqualified people kept their positions and were given raises. Favoritism played heavily in the decisions. Nothing was fair but it was consistent that you needed to be somebody’s little favorite to keep your position. Period.

Anyone sticking up for the company, not necessarily keeping their position, but sticking up for the company, is an idiot. WalMart made billions on the tax cuts and saved a pittance restructuring.

Yeah, you come off like one of the butt-plugs I've been continuously firing shots at on here. I truly pity the people working for you.

You've kept your spot.............................for now.

ALL qualified COs did NOT get cut. at my store the CO who was basically running the store due to incompetent SM got moved to another store. he has been with the company for 29 years. so it probably WAS based on performance. everybody thinks they do a good job but MANY don't. I know its hard to face facts, but if you got cut it's probably because you weren't performing. I am a 17 year vet, been a CO for 4 years and kept my spot. also if you refuse an ASM or any other offered position that is within 50 miles, my understanding is that you do NOT get severance.

I wish you well... I myself am sitting out my 60 ..taking my bonus and severance. I too watched in disbelief the same as you what happened to qualified Co’s be displaced and the unqualified stay. I am pissed as well, I am not dwelling on it though. I will move on. Companies jump to have us, they know that we survived Walmart we will be an asset to them.. they know Walmart work their Managers to the ground !!
