Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Does women get promoted at BRCM?

We all know women engineers , doing tech work, don’t get anywhere at QCOM. S-xism starts at the top .

Is BRCM any better? Does anybody know?

Serious answers only please.

Less women at top because there's less women at the bottom. An individual woman can get promoted at a faster pace than a man. Companies have to these days. Otherwise, they will get accused of gender discrimination. It may be more apparent for men here because there are more men in engineering.

I interned in the IT department of a company once. The CTO complained at a lunch that the company does not like how nearly everyone there is a man and they complain to schools about this. This was a company where 75% of the workforce is women and there are entire departments with only women. No complaint there.

I've seen men get promoted in two successive review cycles to very high positions with no apparent reason why. Pointless to say that only women get promoted quickly. These men are also younger than male counterparts at lower titles.

Better than QCOM, not as good as could be. Many of the most visible female leaders (like Maryam Roufougaran) left just after the AVGO acquisition.

I disagree. 93% of Vps, directors and senior positions are men. Women get to senior and stay there forever.

numbers don't lie.

Women get promoted at Qcom at a faster pace than men. This relatively young women at my site got promoted to senior staff even though there are gray haired men who are still staff. She WFH 2 days a week even though our site has ended WFH policy. Management has no issues with this. She mostly modifies Makefiles and makes the process more burdensome. She refuses to multitask. She's good at writing detailed documentation, though. There are other women who have promoted at a faster pace than men who are far older than them.
