An open letter to SPARC Hardware management

Dear MH:

Here’s hoping that when you leave Oracle you will be treated with the same dignity you showed your own workforce in BUR in September. Hope you get a Fedex delivered to your house and instructions to tune into some clown like ES who gives you the 2-minute ‘Thanks for nothing’ spiel. Hope they stop your healthcare at midnight on the day of the Fedex. Hope they give you the ‘enhanced’ severance package [as opposed to the ‘unenhanced’ version I guess]. Hope they drag their feet on severance and mess up the Cobra notification. Hope that the cowardly management clone they replace you with sneaks into BUR the week after to address the remains of the workforce and pretends there is a future. Hope that you realize that you threw away any sense of accomplishment in the SPARC hardware space by not standing up for your workers and not treating them with some semblance of dignity when the time came.

SPARC is on life support at Oracle. Only sustaining exists to fulfill contracts. Think IA-32 sustaining levels. Oracle wants to dump the rest of it ASAP so they can shut it all down.

@RObN4h6-aafx : that's funny, because customer seems still to buy it. can you please explain to them that SPARC is dead? it's really incredible, but both in Q2 (after the genocide in september) and Q3 (after the purely mad reorg announced in sales and presales org) SPARC (servers+supercluster) overachieved the target by a large % in EMEA and APAC. ouch. we must absolutely find a way to force those necrophagic customers to not buy a dead technology, that's insane, they all should buy OCI, or if they are really very old-fashioned, they should buy C@C. still buying SPARC is really insane, please please please please go tell them this truth, since they are spending millions on a dead technology.

Sparc is dead

So is OPC (OCIC). Sparc has more users, brings in more REAL revenue, and most of all, works. Sparc may be dead, but OPC was stillborn.

Sparc is dead. Don't put it your resume or at least brag about it. Your next hiring manager will know for sure .. you are so out of touch, dead weight.

If he had bothered to read OP's post above, he would have realized that this is not a news post but a plain and simple rant - what normal people do sometimes - vent, let off steam, etc. So what if it does not contain new info about layoffs - just let it slide, maybe show a little kindness to a fellow human being. How hard is that?

So hey "old news" guy - if you're not a "social media consultant" paid by Oracle to do this, you're just a troll, and not even a particularly creative one.

Thanks for last September layoff, 90% original SPARC engineers I knew got much better offer than they were at oracle.

SPARC was dead. The project should have been killed a few years ago, also, the layoffs were not unexpected. Badly executed, but expected. Move ON.

From another SPARC person who is still struggling even to get call backs because of all the outdated methodology SPARC was using. I probably should not read this site anymore. This is not a site to vent.
