Thread regarding CenturyLink layoffs

Show of interest before RIF

Not sure what all states got the offernfor a show of interest in leaving the company with a severance package. Here in Pennsylvania we got the offer last week and only had less than 2 weeks to make a decision. Talk to the supervisor and he claims if you don't take the package and they lay you off there is no package. Don't know this to be true or not because I don't have an option but to stay and see what happens. Can't afford to take the package and go because I am not old enough. According to the email that came out they will let the ones who are getting laid off no the 16th of March and the last day worked will be March 23rd.

Don't know how this outfit could possibly lay anybody else off because we are a skeleton crew now in the field. We were told by our supervision that they are looking at using contractors rather than employees. I guess that is 1 way to get contractors in if you lay all the employees off.

The end game is to get everyone out and use contractors. I had 19 years in AZ and took the package because I knew in the end I would be let go. Take what you can and go, there is more to life than Centurylink.
