Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

What %age of acquisitions fail

Cisco are pretty good at buying and acquiring tech and talent - I was wondering if anyone has any stats about the successes? It would be really helpful to have some proper ammunition to use on these idiots that use the tiny number of failures (SA, NDS, Flip, Linksys, Ubiquisys) to try to pretend that it never works out well for Cisco or the purchased company.

Out of 200+ acquisitions, 17 are making some money for Cisco (most of these 17 were acquired 10+ years ago), however, Cisco may not be able to generate CASH more rapidly as it use to do 5 years back, as the new acquisitions are pure software companies, with fast depletion rate, as they mature too fast, unlike traditional switches. So, all the share buyback and loss in Cash will be compensated by doing layoffs and reducing the head counts. So , with around 70K employees, the management can fire them till long to show that it is cash rich. Typical B-school training for Management excellence,
