Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Don't blame Macy's, blame the consumer

Retail brick and mirror demise is the fault of the consumer. Cut backs at Macy's are due to the consumer. Yes, that's right. Consumers that want everything RIGHT NOW! Buy it, return it. No one cares who they screw over to get that material thing. The 20-35 year olds use it and return it. No integrity, no loyalties. Gone are the days where shopping was a source of entertainment.

Google Macy’s complaints to see how you treat customers and you will have your answer.

All you need is consumers or customers with integrity. Don't buy it if you are going to wear it and return it. Didn't use to be this way.

@RQrRWl1-3iki...spot on! Exactly another reason we are failing as a company....we gave the keys to the store to the asylum residents. If all retailers would grow a pair of cahones and stop allowing this crap, everyone would benefit in the long run.

Or maybe we have too many watered down stores, went years running the same one day sale d and years stocking the same product every season. We gave away the house with coupons and a nonexistent return policy.

Yea, you get iffy customer service, because we don't pay them dilly, because customers want to do an even exchange and get a 40 shirt for the one They paid 10.00 for. Or come in to use the 10.00 off 25.00 coupon with 300.00 in internet returns or throw an absolute tantrum when we say that they can't return something without a receipt or that it has been used in smell like cigarette smoke, or a pair very worn shoes that has been worn for 3 years and they tell you they didn't last as long as they expected them to get me a manager. Or the customer that comes in once a month and Returns the Michael Kors bag for a new one, or have you on the phone calling another store for a $12 pair of clearance shoes that you've already explained is probably not in stock because it says they only have one. I do not have my Macy's card or credit card or receipt I do not understand why I can't do this exchange or return ...I'm going to fall out on the floor until I get my way.

I returned the same pair of jeans five times I don't understand what the issue is

Its just the perfect store......no customers equals no business. The new generation has tons of option because of technology....people have jobs and have money. They just realize they dont need to spend on materialistic stuff like people use to. So stores are the suffering. But people work and have money. But goodluck trying to get them to spend it in this new post recession . They def are more wise after 2009 job crash.

or maybe your customer service model is $hit and no one is willing to pay the prices for your less than stellar products. if i make the effort to stop by and buy a 65 dollar polo, i expect stellar service - not the disconnected, disgruntled person leaning on a register on their phone. Dont blame the consumer - blame yourself. We just choose to go elsewhere. =)

Or, maybe....everyone is broke and in debt.

Its not just retail that's in a major downturn.

Industries that are way down:

Movies

healthcare

Sports

Restaurants

Car sales

And many, many more.

But you wouldn't know that unless you actually take some time to inform yourself, instead of make rash assumptions based on nothing but your own prejudices and beliefs.
