It's been my experience that EISPs come in November and off the payroll by end of year.

I know some have hit earlier in the year but I would not get my hopes up for a mid year offer.

Do you think 3/18 might possibly refer to March of 2018 and not March 18th?

That would make more sense as that would refer to the end of the first quarter.

I have no specific information. I’m just guessing. Looking for more info like everybody else.

March 18th rumor is false...it’s a Sunday! They always announce an eisp on a Monday. Try again troll!

Verizon hiring?

Just heard that Verizon is going to hire permanent workers off of the street for fios installs and fiber splicing. The 30 month temp hires that were hired last April are going to be made permanent. This is good news for the future of the fios build out and also for the senior techs waiting for an eisp. It would save the company a lot of money to get rid of techs with 5 weeks vacation, are at the top of the pay scale and have a pension....replacing them with new hires that are at the bottom of the pay scale, start out with 2 weeks vacation and have an enhanced 401k instead of a pension. Getting people off of the pension would save the company money by not having to pay to insure it and also pay someone to manage it. Also, the people just starting out, of younput the maximum amount into your 401k, you’ll have plenty for retirement. I know a guy who has 20 years and puts in the max and already has close to 600k in his savings....and that’s with the regular 401k, not an enhanced one. I asked this as good news for the company and the workers!

2kma: 4 years pay? You think the company would make a better offer than the Special EISP that's in the contract? C'mon, offer the Special EISP and see how many jump on it. Lots would take it.

EISP or no EISP meh ..... I seriously doubt that too many people will leave on the standard EISP. Now, toss in 4 years of pay and the company would see most of the old age, still holding on, C.O.T. and OSP techs go.

There are so many people that want to retire but will not without a SPECIAL EISP.

So they wait,. Use the FMLA,. DO less.

When will the company learn?

@1prg: I think any specific date is just a wild stab, maybe someone has a general idea of what quarter of the year that the company would be interested in getting rid of people, but I doubt anyone knows any exact dates.

Last year, one department here got an offer that was $10K + $2200 per year of service capped at 30 years.

Only one week after that offer expired they were then offered the Special EISP of $50k + $2200 per year of service capped at 40 years.

With games like that being played, even if you get an offer it makes it hard to decide if there's a better one coming.

If they are interested in getting rid of people I don't know why they just don't make the Special EISP as is in the contract and get it over with.

@zaj

I agree, however there are a lot of trolls on this site just throwing out dates. I heard about the last eisp in October and also that it was going to be targeted to just a select few...which is exactly what happened. I haven’t heard any eisp reports in months, which leads me to believe that the “March 18th” date is just someone yanking our chain.

@RQvh8iV-1mgr: You are right, of course, but directors should at least know what metrics the company is looking for and where their group stands in relation to them. They should also know the general mood of the company as for the need to reduce headcount,,etc.

Anything you see on here is just a guess, but actually that's the purpose of this site, if you hear a rumor, tell us about it. As for the accuracy of the rumor, that's up to the reader to decide if there is any merit to it. If nobody posts any rumors they hear, then there's no point posting or reading any of this.

The directors don’t even know of an eisp 8 or 9 months ahead. How can you know of one? People on here have been saying feb/mar 2018, October 2018 and July 2019....there is no way that you can know about an eisp this far in advance when the company doesn’t even know. I guess if you say it long enough, it will come true.
