Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

Is it certain it's just IT?

I was wondering if it is true that the layoffs will only hit IT? My dad works at Bloomington, but he is not IT, so I'm not sure if he is safe or not.

He keeps saying there's nothing to worry about, but he'd be saying the same thing if we were on the Titanic as it was going down, so I really needed to check somewhere.

I'd be grateful for an answer.

Every department is impacted. Claims got the calls just a few days ago. Almost 80% of my division gone.

Nobody is safe.

Thank you all, I suspected things were not as rosy as he made them seem. I want to be able to help them if it's needed, so having a heads up means a lot.

OP - this is much bigger - you probably saw that Tribune article which addressed the IT layoffs in Bloomington but this is in fact, much bigger....

I would expect all elements of Bank to take a major hit, even those at hub locations.

The layoffs are company wide. I don't know what your dad does or if he's safe. But layoffs are certainly not restricted to IT.

There are posts on this forum pertaining to claims, systems, ad services, and several other impacted areas.
