Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

All RIFfees...What wireless carrier are you changing to?

Looking for suggestions from all you folks that got Rif’d as to what Company to use for wireless ? My contract is up and don’t want to give my money to a Company that didn’t value me.

Stuck with VZ. Sprint is cheap, yet you get no service. And T-Mobile and AT&T, same price as my VZ plan but with less coverage, hence no reason to change at all.

Go T Mobile, there much better price wise and their customer service is top notch. Its not 2007 anymore you can get just as good service from other carriers

Kept Vz (50% retiree plan) 4 unlimited lines costs me around $124/mo. I did look into switching from Vz post RIF but I travel the rural areas in the southwest, TeMo and Sprint are terrible in those areas.

I have always had Cricket. I have coverage everywhere, and one great data plan.

Use RedPocket if you are ok with prepaid and dont need unlimited. You can be on VZ network and save a bundle (also ATT and TMO if its better in your area)

I use Mint SIM. A T Mobile MVNO. At $15 a month for unlimited talk and text with 2gb of data can't be beat.

Writings on the wall for the old bloated telcos. The glory days of ripping people off are coming to an end.

T-Mobile saved me about 30% and coverage is much better in my house. Bye VZW!

Went with T-Mobile since they have a plus 55 plan. I got 2 phones for the wife and me. I left because they were cheaper then VZW and no other reason.

I went with T-Mobile. I'm actually paying less than when I was getting an employees discount. the service is great and guess what? they give me customer service 24 hours a day. no more waiting until Monday to talk to someone to replace broken phones. etc. I also switched all my family's accounts. everyone has been happy.

I too kept mine with VZ. The employee discount plus a few minor changes to my account was still better than all the majors...

Kept them, got a new job with a Verizon discount and declined changing to the "unlimited" plan where you lose the employee discount.

With my VZW discount my bill was over $250. Switched Family to T-Mobile and got got free Netflix for $190. Drop a few more calls but not very noticeable difference in my area. Data coverage and speeds are roughly the same in my area, and best of all I’m not giving my money to a company that doesn’t care about its employees or customers.

I stuck with big red after being riff'd simply because from a reality perspective, they're the best network in my area (for now). It's more of a safety thing for me. They still have some of the best people working the front lines putting up with a lot of corporate BS. That being said if another carrier improves their coverage for this area, I will switch faster than a fat guy eating at a krispy Kreme.
