The positions left are not moved to a cheaper place. They are just closed.
The main reason is the consolidation of all Internal __IT (finance, hr, tmg, sm...) into the PaaS-SaaS-IaaS ... model (everything ending with A--).
All front line support is being outsourced. Intel is reducing. The revenue you see will come not from innovation but from reducing and recycling and leaving students in blue positions but only getting a half of what a senior is getting.
No matter what the stock value says the campaigns (featuring miss Big Bang theory), drones, etc etc have been a fail. The company is not growing in size, is buying small better companies to fill the gap in execution and tying to recover years lost into the most stupid choice Intel made: dismiss the mobile market saying it was a temporary thing.
InHell as someone says is Titanic on slow motion ... but this time the rats will keep on board until they are not able to s--- out more from the company.

They’re going to outsource everything not nailed down because consultants said to. Also CR more expensive than India so must move to absolute rock bottom in cheapness.

This layoff is IT wide, new action related to the ongoing reorganization the newest CIO is doing per the expensive consultants she hired.
Layoff in CR already known previously. But at same time low cost geo sites IT spending irresponsibly and throwing money everywhere, just look at low cost geo sites IT travel spending, it’s crazy!
They are just letting the affected employees know? or is it part of the same round on IT groups being closed last January?
