Thread regarding Weatherford International Ltd. layoffs

February 2018 Layoff

Huge layoff in February. 100's in Louisiana and Texas were let go in tbe name of company transformation. This company is in its death spiral letting people go, severely restricting purchasing, mandatory supplier price reductions on top of a 120 day payment.

Supply chain has been knackered for years, nobody in invoicing knows a damn thing about the correct costs. In my experience some Management buyers were buying equipment for up to 3 times the market value and it cruised through invoicing since nobody knew what we should have been paying. Same with repairs on drillpipe, collars etc with some p.o's just reading " to inspect and repair "X" joints of pipe or collars, no editing of the p.o. to show how many ends needed repaired or any hardbanding work etc. A licence to print money for the vendors and a great way to use up the brown envelopes and that was as plain as the nose on your face yet it was signed off without question. When I asked the question about the p.o's in question to my immediate manager I never got an answer so I assume it is rife in upper management and that was only two incidents from one small part of a couple of divisions. I wonder what could be found if someone looked a little closer, it's not hard to find as I came across it accidentally!!!!!

If your product line is based on contract work, then yes, if you’re not making money, layoffs.

If the product line isn't making money, then layoffs should happen.

Supply Chain is pathetic ! The immature gang has destroyed every good program we once had . No clue and don’t care about how much money they have cost WFT.

Further stretch the vendors. Some of them will back away for sure. As if many haven't already. I know for a fact that the vendor restrictions they have in place just cause the vendors to charge more to WFT. Like the 10% "Supplier Blitz". Well, vendors just charge 10% more, or no deal. LOL. And the payment terms of 120 days, well, the vendors just factor the receivables, and charge a little more for that as well. WFT is killing itself with it's own policies that are set up by the stupid Supply Chain "Towers" of doom.
