RB is Ryan Bingham, a fictional character in the movie Up In The Air. He was the dude who went to companies, giving out layoff notices. It’s a metaphor, or a little joke, around here for some posters.

To the person posting 'fake news', please stop it. It's extremely disrespectful to folks who have lost their jobs, many of which I know personally over the past few months. Many, many different groups.

You wouldn't believe how much stuff breaks that we just have to totally give up on because the only people who knew how it worked have been laid off. We have customers all over the world using software in production that we have no clue how to fix. This is why we don't have SLAs for support. They just file bug reports that never get assigned to an engineer because no one is left.
To all who "pooh pooh" the news of layoffs, or attribute it to low levels, or to "dead wood" - wouldn't you think that after so many rounds, it is (and really has been) cutting into the "muscle" of many organizations? Lines of business have been devastated by the dismissal of those who are talented and experienced.
Once the muscle is wasted - as has been taking place for a year now - not much is left for the beast to survive on!!

For the Sept 1 layoff round, FedX notices were available to delivery notification subscribers Thursday, 8/30. The actual layoff was Friday 9/1.
The conference call was laughable. 70% of my team got it including the manager.
