Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

The Swami knows

The Swami sees an eisp in the future. If the company is hiring people off of the street, they can hire 3 people at the starting rate and they still wouldn’t make what 1 person makes at top pay. Not to mention they each get 2 weeks vacation for a total of 6 weeks, and someone with more than 25 years gets 5 weeks. So they could get rid of one worker and replace them with three workers for the same cost. Plus they get people off of the pension. Oooooooh the Seami sees an eisp in the near future!!!

I got my 30, just waiting on an eisp. Still young enough to play the waiting game for another 5 years if need be, while collecting a paycheck. This job pays well so there is no reason for someone to rush into retirement unless there is an incentive.

I know a guy with 31 years who pays child support to one woman and alimony to another. Hes a pathetic laughingstock of our garage. Be smart like me and u will retire THEE DAY you hit 30 years and not one minute longer.

@ubb

Same here. I know a few others that would go but surprisingly, some who either just got their 30 years or are close to it said that they are still too young and would work through the next contract.

Union gets more dues, company gets more productivity for less money. Writing is on the wall

If the Special EISP was offered ($50k+2200 per year of service) I would take it.

But if it was a lesser EISP I wouldn't.

They are opening up new garage for new hires only.

They dont want them brainwashed by the older techs inder a different contract

Divide and conquer

That sure would make the unions happy getting more members paying dues.
