Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

3000

3000 being cut in certain segments across the enterprise. They say the only severance is involuntary, but appears there may be discrimination with this group as there is no voluntary severance offered. If they offer voluntary severance to other segments, why does this segment not have the same opportunity to have voluntary severance.

Tipsord would sure feel he was not being treated fairly if he wasn’t given the same severance packages as other segments!! Think about it Tipsord!! State Farm sure has changed. Maybe the Board of Directors needs to make a change before he flies State Farm in the ground!!!

For Systems QTD 1/31/18 and 3/31/18

Management was offered voluntary severance. Analysts receive involuntary severance. For me (RE4 with 28 years) the difference is 46 week base pay versus 70 weeks base pay. I wish they offered voluntary to me, I would have jumped on it.

They certainly did get a wake up call. I think they thought people would be bending over backwards to try to stay and compete for remaining jobs. Those Section managers left because they weren’t valued at all In the end. If they continued to offer voluntary on other levels then there would be a mass exit and empty building. Someone else posted that State Farm would be smart to go back to those managers and ask them to stay rather than throw a bunch of new people in those positions. I doubt any of them would reconsider now and Tips ego wouldn’t allow for it anyway.

The discrimination lies in the people that aren’t “safe” from this latest round of cuts that live in the exact area that State Farm has now posted for. I envision a class action lawsuit in the near future.

Common sense and communication have gone right over the head of execs. They send out “surveys” to give feedback on upper management which are just used to wipe the asses of Tipsord and friends. Then they just piss on employees even more.

Upper management messed up big time, cost the company billions and they have the audacity to tell people they are happy where it’s headed. I guess if you like sewer systems, then you’re in luck.

Discrimination? No. The higher ups got a wake up call when so many Section Managers took the voluntary severance that they had to do an unheard of mass posting to replace them. They have figured out that they don't have to pay more for people to leave the company than they have to! Hell, at this point I think I would be tempted to go if they offered me a soda & a piece of cake.

My imaginary thought of water spiraling in a flushing toilet once changes were announced 3/4 years ago, appears to be coming to fruition! The new guy in charge has taken a great company & run it into the ground!! So glad I left!
