Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

What's going on?

What's going on with layoffs?

Is today the day as somebody posted, or are we safe? I know there were some yesterday, so I actually believed that it would spill into today, but so far it's been pretty peaceful.

Has anything happened so far, or can we mark this as another false alarm?

people leaving now are just small noise in a well sounding machine.

First off, way to crosspost! You totally rock. I guess I'll repost the same response here too.

Cool story bro! Tell that to the Solaris customers waiting for Meltdown and Spetre fixes. LOL...

that's simply a deceptive information. people are leaving, hundreds of people, yes, and it's completely normal in a 100,000+ employees company. Q3 will show significant growth, and this will consolidate the business and the stocks. people leaving now are just small noise in a well sounding machine.

In other quarters where there were layoffs, there were additional layoffs in the next couple of weeks after the start of the quarter. It may not be over yet for this quarter.

No fake news at all, 2 days ago 142 more people got on the street in Spain ( all levels) after last year they throw already a big part out.

Most people were between 10 to 25 years in the company. But i do not care anymore now i am out, good luck to all who stay and good luck to all searching for a new job now.

company has a roadmap going forward and the worst is over

Roadmap going where exactly? Our cloud is bust. We've angered all our customers, gutted our product development teams, and replaced our most experienced and skilled sales staff with helpless children.

Every company lets go of low performers on a regular basis That is not what we are seeing at Oracle. Oracle is laying off extremely skilled people, many of whom have never had a bad review ever. Sure, some products and technologies are worth less to us than others. But we're letting people go that we need just to keep the lights on. An I.T. company can not survive without developing new and useful products or services. We are just not investing even remotely enough money in R&D these days (most of what we claim as R&D spending is really just operations cost of running our cloud, PDIT).

@RYDd4mv-1mdh What do you care? The street loves it every time ORCL has a layoff.

It buoys the stock for a short while. But it doesn't last so sell your incentive stocks on the highs.

Just more rants...you get everyone all worked up with FALSE predictions of layoffs. Of course a company with 140K layoffs will have a few people let go every month. And they will hire new people as well. But that doesn't warrant the doom and gloom on this board. Yes there were large layoffs, but the company has a roadmap going forward and the worst is over.

@RYDd4mv-1dzo I feel sorry for you.

At the risk of seeming pompous or ungracious , why don't you just piss off ?

Of course, this is just more FAKE NEWS. First they said Thursday (yesterday) the axe would strike, then they said today (March 1st) it would happen. It is all BS by disgruntled ex employees or current malcontent trouble makers.

I heard that several Fusion sales teams based out of SM were laid off. Seemed to stem from the separation of JL a couple months ago, which the rumor has it is because of a couple of guys he brought over from Microsoft screwing things up with top performers. Goes along with the restructuring and deletion of field sales. O is looking for scapegoats and is losing all of their talent. A short of the stock would seem to be the best severance possible for any of these folks. Those of us that remain are looking at our options elsewhere as the end of Q4 is the end for all of us.
