Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

CS/CA's...

I find it amusing that I keep hearing CS's and CA's say "Oh they won't do that to us." "They can't get rid of the frontline people" etc. I think they have made it more than obvious that no one is safe. They can come through with a QTD bombing run on anyone, anytime. Ultimately, there will be 3 hubs and Corporate. And the less people they have to relo, the better. Seems pretty clear to me they are shedding their career people. Automation and outsourcing will start to become more prevalent across the board. Seriously think, they already treat it as a factory, factories rely on automation in place of breathing employees.

Speak English "Some of our BAs are worth every bit of that salary. Not the typical ISD BA. But some of the BAs I worked with prior to CDE were fantastic at their jobs", this post is about CA & CS. By the way we do not feel protected. We are all targeted, especially outside the HUBS. Yes, I have been here 30 years!

I’m in a hub and watching ageism and jobs not being offered to several layers of section and claim managers. Ad services about to be closed. Wake up

Some of these SF onlys (as in only worked at SF since graduating college 10-15 years ago) seriously think they provide enough value to offset almost six figure salaries Even though they are systems BAs with very little technology skills. It outstounds me!

Some of our BAs are worth every bit of that salary. Not the typical ISD BA. But some of the BAs I worked with prior to CDE were fantastic at their jobs, knew the business backwards and forwards, and knew how to write concise, granular requirements that technical resources could use to design a system from the ground up.

No one a year or two out of college can do that.

Unfortunately, State Farm FUBAR'd the requirements analysis process so badly with CDE/ISD, that we've got people running around in Systems who literally have never seen quality requirements.

And now the new "model" makes me shake my head. We've thrown business analysis right out the window. It's only going downhill from here, folks.

The truth is that State Farm ruined every single role they had with CDE. Of course it's easier just to fire people now instead of trying to salvage what's been destroyed.

I don't see anyone claiming being in a hub makes you bulletproof. The fact is if you are not in a hub your days a 100% guaranteed to be limited.

Anyone in claims in a non-hub location has been told repeatedly to expect their office to eventually close, be flexible to move to a hub or look for a new job. By the way, as a 29 year claim employee, this is not my first rodeo with a downsizing, transition, reorganization. This is my 5th version of having my job hang in the balance of some grand plan. I have literally had to complete for my exact same job on 3 different occasions. We are old pros at this in claims, whether this is for real this time or not, no one should be surprised.

I find this hilarious as well. And sad. Totally agree on hubs and corporate-only end game. I think part of the disillusionment is because their egos have had years and years of insulated protection from accountability and reality. And this hasn't really ever happened at SF. Ever. And now it is. That's cold hard truth so it burns. Many also can't think in real world concepts anymore because of said insulation. So of course, they're needed! I've literally heard, "we won't get cut because they're only cutting older people and they still need us to get things done in systems". I want to grab her and say, Honey, if you've been at SF more than 10 years and are in a job that can be done by anyone with 2-3 years experience, you can get cut! Some of these SF onlys (as in only worked at SF since graduating college 10-15 years ago) seriously think they provide enough value to offset almost six figure salaries Even though they are systems BAs with very little technology skills. It outstounds me!
