Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Further hour cuts

We were just told there'll be more cuts of hours starting this month. How? How do they expect us to work when we are running on skeleton crews as it is?

Anybody else had this bomb dropped on them today?

I seriously can't figure out how we'll be able to keep the store running after this. This almost feels intentional, to justify future closing.

Hours will go up for a week to do Spring adsets and new POG resets. Then they will be cut again to low levels.

Hello Folks,

For those of you who are new to layoffs, wage freezes, and store closings, this is a process. The process, by whatever name it goes by, is where, the top few in the corporation gut a company, pockets the money in by way of things like super high wages and benefits, golden parachutes , and extended wonderful health care plans. That folks, is if they're not just outright stealing it. The employees, however are told a story of hope. They even have many of the more gullible managers and spokespeople believing that the company is actually trying to survive and needs to cut employee wages, health benefits, hours, etc. The money generated by these austerity policies is being pocketed by the top few. Look around folks, they are certainly not putting much back into the company. Sears was once known for it's tools, huge catalog, money back policies, and selection. Look now, the greedy management has china made junk for tools, poorly made and engineered for ease of manufacturing. The store only want to carry the items that move fast, the catalog was on then off, then on. Money back now means restocking charge, and refusal to accept for return broken items, and of course the worst rip-off of all for the customer, the service agreement.

The corporation simply cannot tell you that the end result will be a complete store shut down, no matter what you do to help, because they know full well, they will then not have a cooperative work force to help them make up for under-staffing and help them with the logistics of closing stores. In the end some company liar will blame it on the internet, and competition. But, if you really look around and see the amount of customers they still have, the huge "profit for nothing", things like service agreements, and the low wages coupled with un-affordable healthcare "benefits" , you have to ask yourself, how could they go out of business??? Do you really thing the board of directors would put up with an incompetent CEO??. He's doing exactly what they want him to do folks.

@RYlvYBT-1vul Funny because according to our ASM she thinks that the change actually is good for us LOL.... Let me tell you something that I wanted to say infront of her face. Before the change after xmas we basically cleaned Footwear (I work their and was pretty much in charge) it was all under control. As soon as this change just happened our department looks like crap. Everything is a mess lots of freight still not processed its just horrible how our department looks. This is all because of this stupid move that the company is so desperate to save a few bucks when in the long run its hurting the company more than anything.

Let's see...spring resets in lawn and garden, tools and shoes, floor displays to unbox or assemble, trucks, web orders up the wazoo, RTV, adset, pickups...and they want to cut hours?

This simple store crap has been a nightmare with all of these tasks and projects that need to be done as it stands now.

The store was a lot simpler than it is now. Those of us in backroom did our thing, the MCAs did theirs and things got done, that is until they started cutting hours and then the "store support" and simple store shenanigans followed. This simple store is a bunch of horsesh-t.

You want some of mine? The catch is you have to come work it at my store. Which looks like the apocalypse since we're liquidating. Plenty of hours, but not plenty enough people to handle this chaos...

More cuts to hours and more cuts to number of employees. Hours now will be cut to less than 10 per week, per employee. And also those hours will only be used to unload truck and stock. Get ready for the next surprise in the next few days.

Yet they still expect everything to get done! Send pictures of the project you finished, get that training done, etc

OP when did you hear about this news Wednesday or Thursday morning? We haven't heard anything in our store as of now. Usually our schedules are done Wednesday afternoons will keep an eye for later today if my hours go down.

Just plain ridiculous how can you run a damn company with all this limitations.

If they decided to cut our hours, they could just hang the closed sign on the door right away.
