Thread regarding CenturyLink layoffs

Major Layoffs Happening the Week of March 12th

Word on the street is quite a few more layoffs are happening after HR delivers their "Bell Curve" results. Get out now people... before you have to endure another awkward Glen Post meeting where Jeff Story cucks him in front of the whole company again.

DTV now owned by AT&T. Guess CTL admitting the competition is better.

Done faster for customer? Ha ha no no. Customers are put out 3 or 6 days until we restore the service. We use to be out in 24 hours. Customer service is on the back seat!

Maybe the job gets done sooner, which is the important customer perspective, the only one that matters.

Budgets get cut back and then we in the field are told we are costing the company money by leaving our work trucks idling. So hot or cold outside shut off your truck it's costing so much a week. I wish they would power off their ac and heat when they leave their office. That would save money right. But now we have a new dispatch system and techs are driving 20 or more miles and passing techs that were already in that area. Now that is costing lots more than a truck idling, and slowing down productivity. We use to have a grid or area and work jobs that you are near. I'd drive 30 miles from office, all jobs, and back. Now it's 30 miles to one job that someone could be at the neighbors house. It's just backwards and that comes from upper management because they spent so many millions on this system. Smh

Both spellings are correct: insure and ensure. Typically UK English uses the "ensure" spelling and USA English the "insure" spelling.

"I sit at work at get paid for basically doing NOTHING." ? Is that the culture? If so, that would explain why folks are getting cut.

Using contractors would align costs with sales.

This will be the LAST time I rely on a corporation to do what is "good" for me.

Employees at Level 3 now CenturyLink are a commodity....this whole management team is numbers driven, not people driven. When will these corporations learn if you treat your people well, they will go to the ends of the earth to make you wealthy. If layoffs are needed, they should start at the top. It is not an employee issue, it is a management issue.

I sit at work at get paid for basically doing NOTHING. This company is lost. We have circuits that are celebrating birthdays waiting to be turned up.

Management's response...push harder. No matter how hard I push, I just can't seem to get this square peg through the round hole. Guess I will just put a media converter on it...that seems to be the way we fix broken orders. Shove it through, fix it later.

There will be cuts I am sure. We now do not offer PRISM, but resell DTV. Daily we are left with changes that we are never trained on. Way over looked, and customers are leaving at a very fast rate. This company is all about corporate greed and the ship is sinking. It has got so bad since CenturyTel took over Embarq/Quest. This use to be a career here, now it is just a paycheck. Just like we are treated as numbers, not individuals.

It’s ensure not insure, how much time do you spend drinking from the company water? They are 24 billion in debt... that’s horrid decisions on both sides.

The new management is very good, very experienced at enhancing profitability and this is a needed step change for employees and company performance. That works well in companies and is needed to insure those that keep their jobs have a better chance at career longevity, though nothing in life is ever guaranteed.

It's tough to go through cuts, but once done the work environment changes to a focus on maximizing performance, which will be much better.
