About Our CEO

"Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer

Michael L. Tipsord is Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company. State Farm® and its affiliates are the largest providers of auto, home and individual life insurance in the United States.

More than 19,000 agents and 70,000 employees live the State Farm mission to help people manage the risks of everyday life, recover from the unexpected, and realize their dreams."

Should Mr Tipsord he be worried? Over age 55

About 30 years at State Farm

How many of the 19,000 agents and 70,000 employees are living the State Farm mission?

Time to update the bio Mr Tipsord. How can you take care of your customers when you cant take care of your own employee's?

" We are people who make it our business to be like a good neighbor; who built a premier company by selling and keeping promises through our marketing partnership; who bring diverse talents and experiences to our work of serving the State Farm customer.

Our success is built on a foundation of shared values — quality service and relationships, mutual trust, integrity and financial strength.

Our vision for the future is to be the customer's first and best choice in the products and services we provide. We will continue to be the leader in the insurance industry and we will become a leader in the financial services arena. Our customers' needs will determine our path. Our values will guide us."

Not a good neighbor

Don't keep promises

Purging diverse talents and EXPERIENCES not bringing

Shared values? No, not shared.

You cant have quality relationships with under 2 minute phone calls

Quality service? Everyone taking shortcuts to hit magical numbers is not quality.

Mutual trust... really? Who on earth can trust State Farm? Years ago yes. Not now Mr Tipsord.

Integrity? Do you know what integrity is?

"the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles; moral uprightness."

You do have financial strength - Thank you all past and current EMPLOYEE'S ! Without them you have nothing.

You cannot be customers first and best choice when your employee's are machines. Have you ever called a help line and wished to speak to a human?

To be a leader in the insurance industry you have to act like one.

Time to update mission statement.

Not angry or entitled. I work my butt off and bring more to the table.

No you don't. Aren't anonymous claims hilarious?

Maybe stop bragging about stuff you can't prove and that you've already given people reason to doubt.

"Not angry or entitled. I work my butt off and bring more to the table. Sorry you’re triggered. People are being targeted for their outdated skill sets and underwhelming performance and efficiency. These things happen to correlate with age is most cases."

Interesting.

You think you work your butt off, and bring more to the table. You are most likely young and foolish and perhaps passed through life believing you are special. Quite true that as technology advances, it becomes more difficult for older folks who are not on the cutting edge to adapt. It does not mean that they can't. These older folks were the cutting edge. Let me explain.

Civilizations advance by “repurposing” the ideas and breakthroughs of their predecessors. Similarly, each generation of technology builds on the advances of previous generations, and this creates a positive feedback loop of improvements.

Each new generation of technology stands on the shoulders of its predecessors—in this way, improvements in technology enable the next generation of even better technology.

Because each generation of technology improves over the last, the rate of progress from version to version speeds up.

Further, as a technology becomes more effective, it attracts more attention. The result is a flood of new resources—such as increased R&D budgets, recruiting top talent, etc.—which are directed to further improving the technology.

This wave of new resources triggers a “second level” of exponential growth, where the rate of exponential growth (the exponent) also begins accelerating.

In short, you are only the cutting edge who "bring more to the table " briefly. You too are just a tick of the clock away from being an outdated skill set. It does not mean that you are worthless, it just means you have strength is other areas. Respect your elders. They set in motion the groundwork you are now able to use. Life has a way to humble everyone

Excellent post!!! Very well said. Hoping the company isn’t being replaced with more people like the arrogant, angry Millennial who responded to this post.

This is why these people are being targeted.

Not true. And either way, targeting people of a particular age is a federal crime. So if they really are being targeted, State Farm is going to end up paying a lot more than they expect.

The only issue I have is that “experience” (years of service) does not equate to talent.

I’ve had boatloads of peers with 20-30+ years of experience who could barely manage to power up their computers without getting confused. These people make big bucks just because they’ve been there so long. This is why these people are being targeted. Half the efficiency and knowledge, twice the salary, sorry to say. This is why new talent is preferred.

Evolve or die.
