@did-Good luck if you think severance and unemployment will pay your bills for long considering severance is slapped w/40% in taxes. Yeah, that'll last long.

It's a way for Verizon to keep track of who to layoff next based on tenure. Aka "1% raise" it's not fair/right if you have managed to stay with this company ten or more years you earned your raise and should be compensated accordingly. They rather hire some idiot for less money that doesn't care about taking care of the customers or about the company they work for. Following this mentality will only hurt Verizon in the end. All the good employees that cared and worked so hard for all those years that use to earn real raises will be gone and all that will be left will be entry level nitwits.
"Tenure and previous leading ratings put people at the high end of their title bracket. So, someone who was developing for two years got a higher % than someone who earned a leading rating for years. Above and beyond is becoming a thing of the past with this type of “appreciation.”
Hit the nail on the head.
I got a 6% raise, but only got a small one last year.
6-7% avg in our department but rif's are coming so it won't mean much soon.

You got your 50 shares in two years. Shaddup!
You're at or near the top of your band for your function and location? Some people got closer to 5% but maybe they were underpaid before. Maybe its time to find another job that will pay you more?
With severance and unemployment I won’t have problems paying my bills dummy
So you're complaining about a raise?
In 6 months you'll be trying to figure out how to pay your bills with no income. BIG, HUGE reality check coming for you.
