Where the hell is proper media coverage of this??? This is not a small number of stores we are talking about! We only merit a few local reports? It's easy to see why Walmart announced the bonus when it did. Now everybody will be praising the bonus, while this will end up buried where nobody will see it. Or care. This whole thing makes me so incredibly mad...

It appears the final list is 61 clubs. The Business Insider has the most up-to-date information and about 28 of the 61 clubs listed based on employee notification.
It's odd of the lack of official response from home office. Nothing posted on their corporate site. When Walmart closed all those locations they did so with an official announcement. The news is starting to catch on but how many clubs have been closed? I've seen anywhere from 63 to 263 unofficially.
Wal-Mart has yet to release a statement or a list of store closures. Currently, only local news media outlets are reporting on it as they discover signage up on the front doors that the club is closing on January 26th.
Thus far, most closures are on the east coast and midwest.
Also - the whole "no cash recycler" thing is BS ... I know three clubs locally that don't have cash recyclers that appear to be safe.

I've prodded a few MSM sites that ran the Walmart bonus/wage announcement this morning and have gotten back responses from a couple that they are looking into the closings. Would agree that they will likely try to get a good grasp on the number of closings and a comment from corporate.
Haven't seen anything about the store closings on MSM, just articles on CNN and CNBC about the bonuses and higher starting hourly wages...

I bet the larger media outlets are scrambling to figure out exactly how many are closing, and trying to get a response from the company on a corporate level. That probably won't happen until they have confirmation that all closing clubs have concluded the staff meetings/internal announcements. All of the clubs that are supposedly closing have been removed from the website's "find another club" function.
