It's probably a solid business plan. Slim the stores down that are not hitting the profit goals. Turn the other ones into ecommerce distribution centers to support the vision of how Walmart will evolve. Like same day delivery, one hour delivery, etc. Most of the folks at the Sam's locations will get on at the new distribution centers. The alternative is that what happened to Sears will also happen to Walmart. We've got to change with the times. To me, this makes sense. In five years, you'll be ordering all your groceries on your phone and they'll be delivered in an hour or two. Things change.
This is what I also have a CostCo membership. Always hedge your bets.
