The result? One-third of GTS to be 'redeployed' or not replaced when they leave

Exclusive IBM has indicated to senior Global Technology Services management that that a third of the global workforce will be “productively redeployed” in 2018 with tens of thousands of personnel “impacted”.

Insiders told The Reg that Big Blue had hired consultant Bain & Company to help it plot a way forward for GTS, bringing in external business consultants despite spending $3.5bn to buy PWC in 2002.

In an internal document distributed among senior execs, IBM revealed how it would “transform our service delivery model” in the year ahead with “30 per cent of SD&T (service delivery and technology) to be productively redeployed in 2018”, suggesting the total global GTS workforce is 103,000.

Included in the slide deck is a graph - seen by us and shown here - detailing the “projected headcount impact of 2018 actions” for 30,900 employees, including 10,900 from the domestic (US market) and 20,000 across the globe in Client Innovation Centres (CIC).

IBM revealed in the chart, which quoted Bain Analysis as the source, that fundamentally some “30.9k people is the total [headcount] Impacted” and that 9.3k of those souls are expected to be redeployed.

6wux - What's with the whiny implication that I cut Mittens because he is a Republican? How many real Republicans ever liked that guy, anyway? No consistent stands on anything. No real sign of being a conservative other than being a political wind-vane RINO.

No, actually if you know any history about Bain or Mitt, you'd realize he's nothing but a vulture-capitalist who started a company that has caused the loss of tens of thousands of jobs (or more) by buying into companies in weak positions, taking control, imposing layoffs, leveraging the company into large loans, s---ing the money out, taking it for themselves, then saddling the empty husk with all the debt. They've destroyed dozens of companies, and their most recent "work" is Toys-R-Us, which it teetering on the edge after the same process with them. Do some research yourself.

All successful people have a legacy, and it's usually not 100% positive. The only way to avoid that is to come up with someone who has no resume. No leadership experience, Never accomplished anything. We tried that in 2008.

Bend over and prepare to be "Bained". No lube.

I'm sure Mittens Romney won't be talking much about his legacy at Bain while running for Senate in Utah. Buggar voters there deserve him.

See below “IBM is about to split into two pieces” posted 10-20 days ago (for full thread). GTS is essentially harvesting the folks who help “strategic initiatives”. What to bet that they land in GBS SO ask yourself. If you are not on the strategic initiatives team. “what happens to me”. QED. (sold, spun off, joint venture??? HPE has already shown you where you will land.
