Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Clubs closed with NO NOTICE??

The news is reporting and basically giving the public this vision of thousands of Sam's associates showing up to work yesterday, finding the doors locked and that's it.

I'd like to hear from anyone that this happened to. Tell me they didn't say a word to you and you just went home empty handed?

Rumor is y'all are still getting paid for 3 months... Any truth to this?

Just wandered over to take a peek. Such a shame. As someone from one of the many Sears that also (and unexpectedly) just found out that we're closing, my total sympathy to all of the Sam's Club employees.

It is a matter of safety and security for the inventory and the building itself to announce closing quickly and without notice. Not one of the club's closing was making a profit. The employees are given severance or an opportunity to find openings within the company. I am heartbroken that people are losing there jobs, but do you expect club's that have totaled over a $50 million loss for the company should remain open?. If so then then all of us would be losing our job eventually.

They don't have to give any notice at all. Look when they closed the Willoughby store in ohio years back. None of those associates had any notice. They showed up to work and were told they were closed. A few associates stayed to help clear the building out and that was it. They all had the opportunity to get a job with the other sams clubs and walmarts around.

All giant corporations are doing this, happened to me with Johnson Controls same way same time 1 year ago, it’s all about the shareholders, they could care less about the people who worked hard and took great pride in their career!

All amounts to GREED period!

It's true unfortunately. There was no notice to the associates of closing the club. My wife showed up for work and they sent everyone home after hearing the news. They are paying everyone for 60 days, and the severance package is complete sh--. It's unbelievable the way they went about delivering the news to everyone. This club is in a small community, and has now left over 200 people jobless in less than 24 hours.
