Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Neither option is good

No matter which way this goes, a lot of employees are screwed. If we acquire (it seems now that it's a done deal) NXP, there will be major layoffs in both companies as a result of consolidation. If we are acquired, there will be major layoffs in both companies as a result of consolidation.

So, basically, I stopped worrying about how this will all play out and learned to relax until something actually happens.

Continue to rest and vest my friends. It’s worked well for me the last 15 years. As long as we have enough younger, lesser paid gofers to do the real work, we can continue to come in late, go to the gym, take a two hour lunch, and leave early. Don’t forget to send out a meaningless email immediately upon waking and just before bed.

Here’s a little insiders tip for you- Prewrite a meaningless email at night and hit the send button if you have to get up in the middle of the night to pee.

@1rqc Complete nonsense. Of course this is under my control. It is completely under my control if I send out CVs or not. It is completely under my control whether or not I move somewhere else before the crap hits the fan and the market is flooded with other ex-Q employees. So it is very meaningful to get a bit „stressed out“ over this, because I have a family to provide for and a house to pay off.

Travel to Pompeii sometime. There, you can see what happens when people decide not to stress themselves out and to wait until something actually happens. It‘s a monument to idiots like you.

+1 for relax until something bad actually happens. I have my emergency fund in place and CV updated. I am prepared to go and I am prepared to stay. In the meantime I am going to do my best and be thankful for the good thing in my life.

OP is right. These changes are beyond one’s personal control and also rather common in our industry. Stressing really does not help.

Note the layoffs occur in the purchased organization first. This operational plan has never changed.
