Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

It stinks

I got the word today I was cut. 28 years in two stores (my store closed 2 yrs ago) , 95 attendance credits which says I am reliable not late or calling out. Only part time, but I feel just awful. Good record - just my time is up.

I work in the jewelry dept mostly fashion, but cross over when needed, especially when it's time to count everything and pull it all in and out morning and night!

1gww, metrics are for negative reinforcement, not positive. You'll never get any real benefits for meeting or exceeding your numbers, they're just tools to scare everyone into being a compliant little hamster running as fast as possible on their wheel.

What department did you work in?

28 years did it for you. Metrics are out the window... if the plan to have associates unpack, merchandise, lift, shelf, stack, etc., before and during store hours, they will keep the younger generation who can do the task and fast. I hope I'm wrong.

I don't understand why there are all these metrics attached to our employee number that are able to be used to evaluate our performance and talent yet they aren't often used for anything. What is the point these days of being a good hard working employee if it doesn't mean anything in the end?

I’m so sorry....wow, 95 attendance credits! There’s people in the stores with 1 or 2 and kept their jobs...so what does that say...not fair. Good luck to you.
