Wanda-IBM Cloud Ambitions Turn Stormy

Loused-up another one!

Lots of PR fanfare around this announcement back in early 2017 when the agreement was signed, but now that it's crumbled, not a peep from the IBM PR machine.

At an internal meeting on Monday, executives blamed the downsizing on problems in its partnership with IBM forged last March, sources said.

Wanda will halt its efforts with IBM to sell cloud-computing services and temporarily suspend part of related development and research works, a Wanda employee who attended the meeting told Caixin.

IBM spent over one-year in negotiations to settle the partnership with Wanda, counting on the Chinese conglomerate’s financial strength and ambition in cloud business.

Typical IBM, they have very well built (racial and ethnic matches) sales teams who can sell ice to eskimos, but their products and technical staff are mediocre at best. Most of their software and products are recycled garbage and the trick of constantly changing their names doesn't work.

is it a surprise? maybe after a major cloud security breach and extensive outage companies will consider deploying and maintaining their own web presence, with the exception of small startups Amazon, Google, and Microsoft and the others are banking on lazy enterprises to do forklift their IT environments for them and the reckoning will show up big time one day.
