Anyone heard this and when it’s going to happen?

One of managers said Sam's will be out sourcing bill paying. I for one know that our receiving person knows when we get fake bills. Companies send bills stating we owe them money for advertising our name on there banners, or whatever, from 3 years ago in some cases. They also tact on late fees. We never asked them for advertisement, and they have no proof of the advertising. Some of these bills are over $600.00. Us outsourcing will be great for these companies!

I think anyone who has worked for Wal-Mart for any length of time knows that no matter how Tech forward they say they are we never see the top of the line equipment to do our jobs with. Smart system was going away 10 years ago yet still does things that the new systems cannot.

The amount of money they would have to spend to automate a club with self driving forklifts will never happen with this company. 30 years down the road and the will still need someone to plug them in and clean up the messes they make.

And ask anyone who has had to use the new counting machines how well those have worked? Not to mention the amount of money they cost a month to rent and pay for service on.

You will always need a human element as long as there are human customers.

Robotic forklifts that drive themselves will be here in 5-10 years but only handle tasks such as dropping and slotting items in order of priority. Automatic tasks same thing each time js

Wal-Mart is gonna invest in a robotic forklift that can get stuff out of the steel during business hours? The robots can find a medium sweater in off purple? Not freaking likely.

If we did get to the point where the machines take over they certainly aren’t gonna pay the cost to buy and maintain them which would be 10x that of even a long term associate.

Someone needs to define “3rd party” I am having a hard time believing this...

I can see that happening. Now would that include softlines and stockers?

Not just tech areas right?

Forklifts will be robotic. No forhkift drivers needed.

Crossmark can’t even use a pallet jack to move their own freeosk. 3rd parties constantly show up and can’t do anything until a forklift drops their stuff.

If they plan on changing to 3rd parties in more areas they might want to get ones who can do things without our help.

While this may be sound “dumb” now, it isn’t out of the realm of possibility. At least in the future. Keep in mind we already have crossmark in our clubs.

Now to my point. A LOT companies hire “3rd party” aka temps these days. Through agencies like VOLT-workforce, employee solutions, cross mark.. They’ll have their few full time hires that they hand pick from the temp pool over time plus their permanent hires like managers/engineers/admin... so to say “fully 3rd party” no... but more and more temp hires? It’s possible ...
