Heard last week at the office that something big is being planned for the end of January, but I can't figure out if the info is based on something concrete or if it's just an unsubstantiated rumor.
Looking at other posts on this board, it unfortunately looks more like it might be true. Anybody knows more on this?
They let 9 go. Announcement said 400 more with most being from Calgary.
That's all that they let go? Great, only 695 regular staff will be canned then.
But they actually took a bunch of VPs and made them directors and they keep their salaries etc so no reduction of G&A. They even turned a contractor into a new director. So number of VPs down but number of directors up.
Only one Director? I think they can let go of another 20 no one would be able to tell the difference.
Well, with just those 7 gone the company can save roughly 2 million a year
Or better yet what would they do if they actually had to do some work.
5 VP’s, a Director and a Chief were let go.
Let the "Old boys club" continue even after these layoffs. I wonder what's going to happen when they eventually have to start laying each other off.

Heard that only 4 people were let go today, almost all of then planned layoffs will be workers at the bottom
They never ever let enough go at this level. Happened at COP too. They prefer to let the workers go.

Looks like they gave the boot to about half a dozen at director level or above.

Heard the layoffs have been delayed until March. CVE will be hiring more HR specialists though.
