Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Sam’s receiving clerk and lead

If they restructuring or taking away these positions they really have kept it pretty quiet. Nothing concrete, just a bunch of scenarios that haven’t came to fruition. No new news is good news.

Every club I have ever worked at the most knowledge associate in the building was the receiving clerk. The job should remain as half of the hours for a full time associate. They can help in other areas of the club for the other half.

They have still yet to go a full year without audit to see how bad inventories are going to be. Yeah the job won’t be back but keeping one person to manage audits and CIM issues would have been a wise move. Can’t locate anything in the steel anymore. Club pickups keep having items show up that aren’t even there anymore. Team leads cannot handle the inventory control, and to be fair there was little to no training on how.

Rgq19QP-1nfq. many many clubs have had inventory post audit and while some things could have been caught and fixed prior, the decision will not change. not now anyway and never back to a team. all the numbers have been played with for years to achieve the job eliminations nothing happening they didn’t put in the equation.

This job is a part time gig at best. Any more than 15 hours a week is a complete waste of labor.

Any existing clerk that can prove their job takes more than feel to justify your existence.

NM gets it

Just like any position being held, you have some great associates and you have some terrible associates. Worked in many Clubs throughout the years. Our current receiving clerk won't even get out of her chair to open a dock door for a vendor. Only concerned about her job and not the entire Club being shut down. Anybody in any position being affected is, of course, very personal. Mine, included. This is when we should come together as a team and have the support and compassion for all of us who are losing our jobs, co-workers and members. Such a greedy situation to be part of against our will but this is way more than just one person and one position.

Clerks do many, many things and support the whole club. Let’s take a look at some core tasks they do day to day and put the solution Wal-Mart has given to replace the Sam’s clerk.

Bill paying- service channel and Global shared services-

Daily recaps- claims task

Order GNFR- team leads can do that now

Answer phone- deliveries have set time windows at Walmart currently

Bale trailer- claims task

PO issues and such- home office passed most of that info to store level

So if all this is true for the most part... do you see the end result here?? Pick apart my info at your leisure- NM

Things are gonna hit the fan once yearly inventories start to hit. They will start to care about shrink again when the numbers are double and triple what they used to be.

Lost money is lost money.

And there may be re-positioning as far as a clerk becoming a dock associate.

Oh come on if you can actually say you have about two hours a day of work then why are you even wondering!? Your job will be gone this year. Don't know when but it's gone. I'm just wondering why our clerk acts like she can't even be bothered. So busy to do what sit on your rump? At least your honest.

They also promised that audit wasn't going anywhere, that the new ways were to give leads more time to focus on reports and things. Less than 6 months later they were all gone. You can't trust this company at all. I am taking my severance and flipping the bird on my way out the door.

I don't believe the person that says receiving higher ups are at their club and everything is a ok in the backroom. its called receiving, much less backroom at Sams Club. Something will happen, just need a when and someone to tell us when they learn the CORRECT info.

to the invoice clerk that posted about shrinking job...yes it's true...I am doing what ever right now too!

some days are horrible because I get pulled all over not like when we had a purpose and things that had to be done and it was once a respected position. when Walmart did away with their clerk a year ago in Sept the writing was on the wall then. the only thing is that my cm doesn't bother me to much and Ive heard thru other clerks some of their cm are being real %^$#@ if you know what I mean. with the audit team gone and no one caring about the inventory it's a struggle when that was a main purpose to keep things right...no more just get it in the door and to floor...its very sad. I hope they tell us soon what is going on soon I can make plans for my life and family. anyone that says this isn't stressful is wrong

I know my position as invoice clerk will not stay the same. In the 19 years I've had this job, all my responsibilities have shrunk to about maybe 2 hours a day. I am mostly on the dock working. Anybody else feel the same way? Please respond if you can.

The team from corporate is at my club as we speak. They're the ones heading the improvements to receiving. They've told me not to anticipate any re-staffing or reorganization of any back room positions. I was told we need a capable team in receiving to usher in our new digital era in receiving. This is all the news I have. My position in my club is one that would necessitate them including me on any anticipation on loss of staff.

I have no doubt it'll happen. Whatever jobs they're taking away this year should happen very soon. They aren't going to fill those positions with all these associates that just got their store closed then take it away in a few weeks. I think it's going to happen next week at the latest.
