The Marketing Team is a bunch of bull. They waste our company’s time and money. They come in after a WEEK of blitzing with only 4 memberships!? The company is spending/wasting money, not making it. If anyone is dead weight and needs to be dropped, it’s them. Stick with your online membership sales, Sam’s. I agree with the other guy, the marketing team is more useful helping with returns. We can survive without them.

Oh lord please send these associates out to blitz for a week. The stressful days of it be blazing hot, freezing cold, wondering what your next business is going to be got from, etc... Sales in any company is hard work on the mind. It may not be fisical labor but it's hard work. Let's not even talk about the phone calls we have to make. You would lose your mind constantly hearing no, please stop calling, Costco is better. Any job looks easy on the outside in. Tomorrow please step into marketing and ask if you can sit in. They will open your eyes a bit more.

For the marketing team of three people high end of 40 a year per person 120 total and low side for mileage for 5 grand per person giving if you ride share. So $135,000 the break even point for your team, would be you would have to sell 1,350 plus membership per year or 112.5 per month or a regular membership you would have to sell 3,000 per year or 250 per month. So from a business perspective you would need to meet/exceed those numbers. I would like to hear any club that gets those numbers. If more then half the clubs we have did that, we wouldn’t have plus challanges.

I am membership lead at my club. I have done a good job building relationships with our business members along with my team. We represent our club and give a face for our members. There are days we go out and interact with over twenty businesses. We get yelled at for our companies business decisions and practices more times than not. When do membership drives and get people to talk down on what we are offering because Groupon is better. We still maintain the goals of 25/25. Our plus goals are always 20 or 25 be lucky if you only have to get to 8. Yes we drive and get reimbursed for part of our milage. Not so if someone is getting 30k for milage a year and not producing high results they need to be let go. As a team lead I have taken people off my focus because they were dishonest. Part of our job is to inform the members of their benefits consist of. Belittling jobs shows that you don't know everything that goes into those jobs.

I’ve seen a half dozen membership associates fired for either reporting false mileage or going home or shopping while supposedly being on drives.

It’s a slippery slope. There can be some really good people in these positions but a lot of the time it is days and weeks without bringing in a new signup.

The systems they roll out to use for these on the iPads were horrible and probably part of the reason why it is on the chopping block.

For the person who says they have drove 60,000 miles in two years. Yes you have to Maintain your own vehicle but if you make 30 to 40 a year. You also end up with another 30 grand tax free with your mileage pay out. Groupon, living social and flyers do more then a whole. marketing team.

I agree my marketing team at my club doesn't pull in the numbers that they should. I've heard multiple marketing associates say they half a--. One girl would go and pick up her kids from school, take them out to eat and drop them off at home, and she would brag about this. And yes that's after the fact she already took her unpaid lunch. She would get paid for that mileage. That is taken advantage of the company. I WORKED at membership and we would have more people and business sign ups because of Groupon offers. Again not every club is like this but from what I'm reading looks to be more are worthless then actually working.

For those of you on here that say that the marketing team Goofs off gets paid for going out to eat and purchasing things have you ever thought about that they spend their own money that the company doesn't reimburse them for into our businesses in our territory to insured trust with our business members. The other thing is majority of these events that they're going to the clubs have paid for their boots to go out there they can't go anywhere there slided there to promote your business. Their success out in the field and sure that you get a Sam share it is on you when those members come in on how well. Their success out in the field and sure that you get a Sam share it is on you when those members come in on how well their visit is and how much they spend. Marketing numbers result in 1:30 your Sams Hair so stop complaining and whining like they're not doing their job. Have you ever sat there and looked up how many new businesses are in your area where can you go that's not off limits to get the numbers to be over 100% for the year for your Club. Yes they have to drive the company doesn't provide a company vehicle for them to use they have to use their own personal vehicle and maintain their own personal vehicle. I know in two and a half years I've racked up almost 60,000 miles on my vehicle and in those two years we've excelled in our marketing and memberships because of the work my team does stop insulting one Department to make yourself better. It only shows that you are one of the low in people that don't do their job. Maybe they should bring back performance and get rid of the ones that lack enthusiasm and show a hundred and 10% towards their company. Maybe we'll get those that don't want to do their job out and get people in that will.

Wow some of you on here getting mad because they're saying the marketing team and team lead and most the time the marketing managers are lazy. It's a fact most of the time after I work my 8 hour shift working my a-- off I would log on to Facebook after work and see them taking photos, playing around, eating out and shopping what kind of f** s* is that. To pay Associates to do that. I get you have a lunch break but you get a break to goof of on social media many times a day?? And as far as Sam's share there MANY factors that go into it not just marketing. One of the many reasons why I quit. You have associates who don't do sh-- and get rewarded for it, while the hard workers get to do more. I agree Groupon is really all you need.

I totally agree some clubs do work their a-- off. Then you have clubs that do nothing but drive and basically get another paycheck from mileage. Market 18 is the worst no accountability. Managers don’t question when they turn in sheets of the travel voucher. Like taking candy from a baby who is clueless.

absolutely not saying every club but when “out on drive or blitzing” more time is spent farting around than working. that’s a fact. that phase of it definitely needs eliminating. no more mileage paid either. keep one in club only position for membership that does work weekends and one night a week. no TL. absurd that they say they only work M-F days. there is no team to lead many clubs never hired to replace lead or cordinator.

Without the Membership/Marketing team our Club would not have the member sign ups that our Club has. If you see us out eating, we do get a lunch dumb a--! Many days out on a drive we don't get our breaks. So if you don't know what our day in the field consist of keep your opinions to yourself. If you get a Sams share just remember the associates in marketing play a large role in helping your a-- get that check!

Well at my club the marketing team and team lead and manager worked harder at drinking and socializing outside of work and on these so called Blitz on my day's off I would run into them shopping or eating out. Poor use of club hours, all you need in this day in aga is Groupon.

Also the worthless part was for the TL and manager position. In some cases you have 1 marketing associate being lead by a TL than managed by a manager. The TL and manager are worthless when the member service manager can look over that area also... The work marketing does is not worthless, the amount of leadership positions for it is when it could be put into other positions in the club like Merch or fresh.

I’ve been a manager for years... I’ve seen the marketing manager, TL, and associates do more at the membership desk returning items than doing the actual job because it’s all going to automation. Again it’s becoming a worthless position that the company will not want to pay for... Don’t be shocked when the news comes out. I’m just telling you how things have been said from the top down ladies and gentlemen. I’ve heard other things from the top be wrong, but the way the company wants to be even more profitable it only makes sense.

Yes agree if you have never done marketing then keep ur mouth shut, we meet with members new and current and listen to there complaints about a--holes like u. We are told no more times then I can count lots of research and frustration goes into trying to get numbers, so please shut ur mouth.

Please don’t come to this site and call positions dumb, obviously you may have interviewed for both positions and someone else was selected. I can see why you did not get the promotion with your attitude and self righteous self. My suggestion is go f--- your self!

MSS Lead and Marketing Lead are two of the dumbest positions I have ever seen out of any company I’ve ever been with. Marketing manager is also pretty worthless. 1-2 FT marketing coordinators should be enough for any club. Member Service Manager can handle the front end and Marketing.

I think Marketing TL and possibly manager will be gone by the end of the month.

Once the next wave of meetings (within the week) happen you'll see more info posted. It has been mentioned that things may be altered from the original plan which has been posted many times on here.
