Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Sick of whiners

I work with a old ES on a daily basis and all he does is complain about the system. I'm so sick of it and glad he's getting laid off. He's worked in our group for over 3 years and he has done nothing for our group of any significance. Constantly complaining and a drag on our progress. Every conversation is about him, his views and how broken the system is. Meantime he just hangs out and boasting about how he is going to get a package and how, as he continues to work, games the system. Meanwhile productivity suffers and everything takes on a negative tone. For more than 3 years nothing to show for it. And what is surprising is management complacency. The realize he's a dud but continue to put up with non-performance. Just a couple of months left and he's gone. Nobody will miss him and hopefully progress will return. I've never been so disappoint in an ES, who so focused on entitlement, self centered and not helping the company make progress for the benefit of all. I feel sorry for him and his wife who will eventually feed on each other because they won't have the company to blame for their shortcomings.

Hey, hey, hey -3xny, You gotta spend money to make money. Unless you think the geologist must singlehandedly find the reservoir, go drill it, then produce it, market it, ship it and refine it too. News flash: You geologists are a one trick pony, your job is to find it and nothing more.

hey, hey, hey, you all got it wrong. We are the only asset in the company that generate income. The rest are the expense. We find the oil and gas (meaning $$$) and the rest of you spent the money.

-hyd, Maybe we should take that old buzzard geologist to the desert and bury him, wait 10,000 years, then come back to the same spot to drill out a barrel of oil. That way the company can say they got something useful out of him after all.

Seems like a pervasive problem. All these old buzzards thinking they are the center of the world. I work with one that thinks everything he says should be etched in stone. This geologist hasn't found a drop of oil in his lifetime. What a self important dufus.
