Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Does WM know how disruptive the lack of communication about layoffs is?

I remember in the early 2000's that there was an announcement over the intercom about a layoff, and it was relatively small. Now the layoffs get leaked and people are basically frozen because there is no communication. There is also no closure after it is done as they used to do. In our AES, communication was one of the biggest negatives. If there is anyone listening out there, could you pull your head out and have the common decency to let your "valued" associates know what is going on. You are killing productivity by your silence.

Within my division no one below VP knows a thing.

Yeah right, do you really think VPs are making the hit list and then checking it twice with no help?

The joke is on you, because HR is driving the layoffs with the executives signing off on it.

Seriously, who/what do you think the golden age of yesteryear would benefit?

No one. That's why they're all gone. That's why I called it the golden age of Walmart.

The exceptional growth is over. Now it's just to keep the ship afloat.

The sick thing is that the employees think it's still a family company.

The keep the underlings brainwashed by showing old Sam Walton videos as a testament of the culture.

Walmart used to have ordinary people doing extraordinary things.

Now they have ordinary people doing ordinary things.

Status quo with the external "out of town" leadership brought in.

Good luck people, you're gonna need it!

Rollin Ford and other good ol boys missing every new technology and being late to reality is the reason these cuts are happening now.

In response to the previous post saying - "Even Sr. Directors have no input regarding cuts made to their teams ". I sure hope there is some logic to the cuts. That statement is hard to believe.

As it hard to believe a company that has great earnings, record high stock price, no shortage of cash on hand but yet has to have layoffs every 6 to 9 months....

Get rid of Dogg Muttmillions, his henchmen, Jet, and all of HR.

Also, the golden age of Walmart with the leaders like Rollin Ford are over.

Seriously, who/what do you think the golden age of yesteryear would benefit? all those old uneducated gold badgers that have been doing their work the same way their whole lives will not get walmart to the next level. If leadership kept things the same, the company would shut down like sears and then the whole town would simply die.

Their job is to keep the company alive, not to milk the company so old timers can support their families.

What is it you want to know that you think HR or company leadership can tell you? Within my division no one below VP knows a thing. You think it’s frustrating to not know if you’re getting let go? It’s more frustrating to not know AND to not know if members of your team are going to get let go. Even Sr. Directors have no input regarding cuts made to their teams.

Lack of communication rests on the heads of HR. They are terrible and should go.

They are no more than the minions of the corporate elites.

Get rid of Dogg Muttmillions, his henchmen, Jet, and all of HR.

Also, the golden age of Walmart with the leaders like Rollin Ford are over.

I thought Dogg Muttmillions was of that order since he has been around since he was a teenager, but alas, he is not.

He is now nothing more than a corporate shill and only cares about lining his pocketbook.

Go, go, golden parachutes for the elite!

What are you expecting leadership to communicate about the pending layoffs? They can’t tell people they’re getting let go until the actual day of.

Other than Judith moving to International, what other leadership changes have been announced?

Wouldn’t it be something if they finally did away with the duplication of roles in Walmart Labs? Keep the people that really do work. How useful is the Program Manager/Customer Relationship Managet/Business Solutions Analyst? If they are not contributing hours to a project, let them go. They got BSAs that do NO project work but want to DICTATE what a BA should do. There’s one that does absolutely nothing but what a tech lead tells her. Get rid of her!!!

Can't wait for the Walton's to build all the cool stuff around here and no one goes to them because WMT laid everyone off.

I have said it before and I'll say it again. WM, give your long-term associates a graceful way to leave this company without trying to screw them over on their severance.

What rubs salt in the wound is that NWA was sold as great place to raise a family. And it has been, but because if the limited opportunities available here(and Wm's policy involving vendors hiring associates), you will have to uproot your family and move off somewhere else. I have seen it happen. Friends have to live apart from their family until a kid graduates or till the end of the school year to minimize anxiety.

My hearts goes out to all of you who are impacted. Either you will be let go or your friends. If you are let go remember all of your accomplishments and how you helped grow Walmart to where it is now. My prayer is that these “new” leadership techniques don’t burn Walmart in the end. The culture left a long time ago

I was there when 2000 happened. I also remembered Rollin Ford almost crying when i heard that in ISD. Nowadays, it is not about people, it is simply expense control and stock price. Also, with the new ways of getting rid of people a lot of associates who are displaced will never get any compensation. Home office world is even worse because there are no employers who can handle prospects who are used to large scale operations and dont have a niche in one thing.
