The VPs and Directors have somehow managed to save their big fat a$$es in the recently announced $1B cost cutting plan. Every VP was given a target of cutting 25% in his or her (mentioning 'her' for all feminists out here so that I don't get sued for being s-xist) organization, failing to do which will terminate his/her REST and VEST arrangement with QC. The VPs called meeting of all the directors under them and told that in order to cut 25%, they would get rid of 50% of them. The directors offered 10% of their 'REST and VEST' to VPs, if VPs saves them. VPs happily agreed. The directors in turn called upon managers and senior managers under them and offered them the same deal. The managers and senior managers happily agreed to give 10% of their 'REST and VEST' to the directors above them. Then managers and Senior managers formed a secret union within QC with help from some HRs. The union decided to fire all junior , senior, staff engineers under them and recover the money that they have to pay to the directors by eating into the severance packages of those fired employees. No need to say, the HRs readily agreed to help them in doing this to save their own 'REST and VEST'.

I think most people realized that it was meant as a joke and didn‘t need someone with a high enough title to confirm that.
VPs with zero reports will re-employ few from the laid off brigade and strengthen their positions.
